Veeoh
no, still no joy for us AMD users... unless anyone can state otherwise? =v= Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14491-just-updated-to-1046-anyone-else-notice-how-fast/#findComment-92654 Share on other sites
rogabean
I didn't get to test drive it for too long... It killed my ability to use my wireless card completely and attempts to correct that resulted in a total meltdown and reinstall of 10.4.5. From what I could tell though before hand my upgrade of 10.4.6 was actually running a tad slower then 10.4.5 YMMV Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14491-just-updated-to-1046-anyone-else-notice-how-fast/#findComment-92656 Share on other sites
Jeb0921
I just installed it on my amd machine without any problems and it does seem to respond quicker. There is a patched install located at the usual places. TokinDerrick
it sounds like what you're running is the Myzar patch, which has part of the stuff disabled. which I think any computer with 10.4.5 can run. its when you try doing the frameworks it f***s up. Jeb0921
the install I have puts the frameworks into a seperate folder so the amd guys don't get messed up and the intel guys can put them were they belong as per the instructions that come with the patch. babyjenniferLB
ok of note, photoshop cs2 that was unusable in 10.4.5 is now faster than my sempron 2200+ 386MB ram. ok thats a big plus for a emulated app. it also boots up faster than my sempron thats running windows 2000 btw so photoshop is pritty quick compared to what it was, its now at a faster speed than what i normaly run it. And when it comes to fillters the mac is a lot faster, it applys my normal filters in a second when it takes my sempron 43 seconds last count for the same image and the same effects. one happy mac girl. now i'll be saveing up for a imac 20 inch and photoshop cs3(uni) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14491-just-updated-to-1046-anyone-else-notice-how-fast/#findComment-92812 Share on other sites

Dark_Elf
I installed the update too on my AMD 3200+ 939 and works perfectly and a little more faster, also for emulated applications (I tested with Word with the last update). I have QE+CI, sound and LAN. I had only to take the IOUSBFamily.kext from 10.4.3 to get my USB Bluetooth pen working, but I had to do this also for 10.4.5. There is always mouse tearing, but at least I accepted it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14491-just-updated-to-1046-anyone-else-notice-how-fast/#findComment-93357 Share on other sites

slipstream
worked fine on my intel box thanks 1 question for some of you intelligent users from a fairly non intellegent one. Copying of the disabled frameworks files over the existing ones. whats the best way to do this ? should i just copy all the disabled frameworks across ? and if so how as there is a ton of files in alot of subfolder and the permissions are all high level stuff that an admin account cant copy over either. Do I need to drop to a shell and do some vudo of which I have no knowledge, cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14491-just-updated-to-1046-anyone-else-notice-how-fast/#findComment-93837 Share on other sites

Solr_Flare
I just did this myself so here you go 1) Backup your frameworks folder just in case you need to restore if the new frameworks you add in cause problems. 2) reboot your system 3) when you get to the boot options darwin screen choose to start with a '-s' (minus the ' of course) 4) when it finally loads up to the command prompt type: 'cd System/Library/Frameworks_Disabled' then hit enter 5) Now type: 'cp -R *.framework/System/Library/Frameworks' and hit enter 6) Let it finish up the copy then reboot your computer and let it start up normally. 7) If you get into Mac OS X ok then everything is working, Almost there! 8) Launch the Disk Utility program in Applications/Utilities 9) Select the Drive/Partition that you have OS X installed on then click 'Repair Disk Permissions' After that finishes up you are all done If, for some reason Mac OS X doesn't boot or has problems, just follow the same steps as above only this time go to your backed up copy of your Frameworks folder and copy *that* back into frameworks. That will restore you back the way you were. Also note you can copy individual files one at a time from the disabled folder into frameworks, the above method is to just do them all at once. Enjoy! slipstream
I just did this myself so here you go 5) Now type: 'cp -R *.framework/System/Library/Frameworks' and hit enter 6) Let it finish up the copy then reboot your computer and let it start up normally. Enjoy! i did this and when i did the cp line above it took only a split second and came back with 2 lines starting with SAGE and a bunch of other charachters that looked like switches like -x -t - it wasnt that but you get the idea how do i know this has worked and should it copy that in a split second.. it didnt give me an eroor and i double checked what i had typed.... cheers i appreciate your input and help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14491-just-updated-to-1046-anyone-else-notice-how-fast/#findComment-95077 Share on other sites
Colonel
I upgraded to 10.4.6 as well. It does seem slightly faster, especially Rosetta. Now I can play halo without it crashing. samflores
I had only to take the IOUSBFamily.kext from 10.4.3 to get my USB Bluetooth pen working, but I had to do this also for 10.4.5. Hi, I also had to do it for 10.4.5, but after updating to 10.4.6 it doesn't works I replaced the kext, changed the owner/permissions, but after that could only boot the system is safe mode (-x)... At safe mode the bluetooth pen works normally. If I try to boot in normal mode I get a screen saying my computer needs to be restarted just after the gray apple shows up... Any ideas?
