There is a complete new driver being written in the Xlabs specifically to enable 9200 support. This is much better than any half working kexts etc. Be patient and in time Rogabean (who has taken over the project) will make progress.

As to the system sleeping on ACPI_lid close then there is a kext available on the internet to disable it named Insomnia.kext

Insomnia.kext.rar

EDIT: found the kext.

Just an update, There is now a Kext for sound and it works well.

HD audio package:

The "linux codec dump" is here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=7907

The only remaining thing that does not work is the 3945 ABG wireless card. My lid close and open sleep even works.

Thanks for the notice. I've got to try it out someday. It's been awhile since I play with OSx86 hahahaha. :)

Curious which version of OS X and what kernel you all are using with the audio update. I have the JaS 10.4.8 with the Semthex 8.8.1 (January release I think) and when I drag the Linux dump file to the application I get prompted for my password. Then as soon as I enter it and press OK the computer crashes. It comes up with the message that you need to press the power button for a few seconds and let the computer reboot.

I have tried the 1.11 version that is linked here and the 1.15 version of the audio patch.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1705.

Any suggestions would be great. This would put me one step closer to using OS X full time on this laptop if i can get this working.

My experience is the same as Bettelbob...I've tried with the 1.11 version of the HDA patcher, I get the "You must now restart your computer" message.

Also, I cannot seem to get the 1390 wireless card to work. Strange, cause during one of my numerous installs on this laptop the installer enabled the card, found my local SSID, got an IP address and all, then wanted to register with Apple. I promptly cancel and turned off the wireless card, but when I got into the OS, I cannot seem to enable the card. I've done a couple of reinstalls since and it has not done that again-doesn't find the SSID. I cannot find out how to get this card working. In Network preferences it shows up as Built In Ethernet, but in the System Profiler it shows up as Airport Extreme card, just "currently turned off".

Any ideas???

-- just tried the applehda patch with version 1.15 and get the GUI lock up...not even the "you must now restart message" - cold restart only solution from here :-(

I just installed Mac on a Dell E1505. I'm having sound and wireless problems as other people have had but I will try fiddling with the sound solutions listed, thanks guys.

I thought I might mention that the 3495 driver is nearly completed from what I hear. Apparently (lost the link  ) as of a few days ago somebody got it fully working with the latest iwi-darwin drivers on the latest Mac version (10.5.7 I think). I'll be trying it out when I get updated from 10.5.2 (sigh).
