  1. @utya I followed the guide on this site. I didn't use OSx86 to make my efi strings. Aquamac I also looked through this post, it talks about setting up 200 series cards in OSX GeForce 200 series support I tried using the Netkas kext, but I never got QE/CI working. I ended up using only the EFI string and the NVidia drivers for the EVGA 285 and I got QE/CI working.
  2. I have a GTX285 and all I needed to do was copy my com.apple.boot.plist from my regular Leopard install (10.5.7). I have the EFI string in it. I didn't install any of the video kexts. Booted up just fine, played around with the QuickTime X and all the graphics ran nice and smooth. I am not sure about the plist in DD's extra folder, never used it. And I have no idea about 7300. Hope that helps.
  3. Thanks for the fast replies. I guess I will be shopping for a new CPU cooler.
  4. I want to thank DD and the others for this guide. I now have a EX58-UD4P working with a GeForce 285. I have looked through these posts and I can't really find anything relating to the temp of the processor. I really feel that compared to Windows my machine is running hot. I have the 920 and the stock CPU cooler, my machine is not overclocked but at idle the cores are sitting about 50℃ (I am using Temperature Monitor from the link in the first post). In the pic by DD after running Prime for 5 hours your processor is running at about 89℃, mine is doing this after about 30 min of using Handbrake. My system has not crashed do to heat but when I boot back into Windows and use the Gigabyte utility, it shows that at idle the process is running at about 30℃. What kind of temp reading are other people getting? Is this normal with Mac OSX and the i7 chip? Once again everyone, thanks for the great guides, they really made doing something like this pretty easy.
  5. TSC sync XNU patch

Well I hate to sound like a noob but I have some questions about this and I am hoping that someone might have some suggestions. I have an E1705 and I have installed the iATKOS 10.5.4 using the Darwin Kernel 9.4.0. I downloaded the correct replacement kernel version and I downloaded the patch file. I replaced my kernel and added the flag in the Boot.plist. I repaired the permissions. When I rebooted and went to the system profiler it shows 2 cores but my system is very unstable. Applications are constantly crashing and after a few minutes the machine will lock-up. What am I supposed to do with the tscsync.patch file? I have seen a couple other people ask about this and I am also unclear. If I have missed a step or if you have any suggestions please let me know.
  6. Dell Core Solo / GMA E1505

Curious which version of OS X and what kernel you all are using with the audio update. I have the JaS 10.4.8 with the Semthex 8.8.1 (January release I think) and when I drag the Linux dump file to the application I get prompted for my password. Then as soon as I enter it and press OK the computer crashes. It comes up with the message that you need to press the power button for a few seconds and let the computer reboot. I have tried the 1.11 version that is linked here and the 1.15 version of the audio patch. I have a Dell Inspiron 1705. Any suggestions would be great. This would put me one step closer to using OS X full time on this laptop if i can get this working.
  7. Dell laptop with Mac OS X won't work!

I am guessing that it should work. I am running 10.4.8 on my Dell Inspiroin. - I don't know anything about the Creative External Sound Card, I have a cheap USB to audio adapter and it works fine. - My Intel wireless card does not work. In another thread they are talking about porting Linux drivers but I think there is still a long way before they are finished. - Just remember to change it to one core in the Boot.plist when you boot up. (Or at least I had to with the Core 2 Duo). - I have the GeForce Go 7900 GS and it works with Titan. Hope that helps you a little bit.
  8. NVidia GeForce Go 7900 GS Problems

HOLY {censored}!!!! It's working!!! Well I finally got the graphic carding working and I realized I was making the dumbest mistake. When I was selecting packages to install I was selecting Intel 950 chipset also. I wasn't thinking about the graphics card, I was confusing it with the Intel Chipsets such as the P965 or 975X. I realized this after trying to install 10.4.6 because it seems that a lot of people have really good luck with that version. Once I realized what I had done I got the 10.4.8 JaS DVD put it in rebooted installed and updated the kernel and installed Titan. I DID NOT edit any values in the GeForce.kext, the NVDA*.kext or the Titan.kext. Titan sees the card, says cross your fingers and boots. Finally I have 1920x1200 with CI and CE. What a way to end the year! Hope everybody has a great New Year.
  9. macbook, or macbook pro

Explain to her that this in an investment in your future. The MBP is a computer that will "last longer" with the Firewire 800 and Firewire 400 ports more devices can be hooked up. It will work out better for your video editing. Also the MBP has greater expandability with the Expresscard 34 slot. So as new technologies are developed you can simpley add an adapter and use that technology. I don't know just thinking about what I would say if I needed to convince my parents to pay for the upgrade to the MBP. Just help them to understand that this is a wise purchase that won't be obsolete 6 months down the road. I just leave the graphic as an added bonus!!
  10. DELL Inspiron 6400 Display problem - Need HELP-

FeuerFrei I have the same issue. I have a different video card in my Dell Inspiron but when I boot normally I have the same black and white bars. When I boot in safe mode (-x) the system works fine. I have tried Titan, Natit, MacVidia and no luck with any of the programs. I installed the same packages as you (minus the ATI and Sound). And the same results. So if you find a fix please let me know.
  11. NVidia GeForce Go 7900 GS Problems

Yeah Rammjet, I changed the IONDVSupport.kext like you mentioned in your previous post. I removed the : <string>0x03000000&/0xff000000</string> string and replaced it with <string>0x029810de</string> and the system hangs on boot up. Now I am going to ask a silly question (blushes) but I was reading another post and do I need to change my login window to the older 10.4.4 version? My system profiler doesn't crash and reports things correctly. But I have noticed on some other peoples installation directions they mention changing the login.app
  12. NVidia GeForce Go 7900 GS Problems

Okay, well thanks for the suggestion Bladez. I tried to change my Video ID to 292 but the system hangs. So I have had to switch it back to 298. I am attaching a picture of my System Profile in hopes that somebody can see something simple that I am missing in trying to get this thing set up.
  13. NVidia GeForce Go 7900 GS Problems

Well that is discouraging I was really hoping that this was going to be something simple were I was making a basic mistake. I looked at your link and I am a total noob to this. Because I don't understand anything that is present in those IO dumps. Hope something can be figured out.
  14. NVidia GeForce Go 7900 GS Problems

Okay, well I gave that a try and the computer just hangs on boot-up. But I did notice that when I changed the values in the Titan.kext and the IONDRVSupport.kext that the: NVDA::start<1> fail disappeared and I have new messages there; NVDA::probe<vid> NVDA::start<vid> But all the messages that Titan would usually display are gone. Almost as if Titan is not running? The next thing that is show is as follows: -localhost /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindo: Login Window Application Started -Apple BCM440XEthernet: Ethernet address (the MAC address) -No Airport Driver Found And then it just hangs. The only way to do anything is to just power cycle. I can leave it for a few minutes and the computer will still stay at that point. But as soon as I go and put the original values back into the Titan.kext and IONDRVSupport.kext the machine will boot into safe mode. Also Faiz, I tried the Natit drivers and with even worse luck then what I am having with the Titan. I can't get the machine to boot in safe mode or in regular mode. I have to stay in a command line mode to do anything if I am using Natit.
  15. NVidia GeForce Go 7900 GS Problems

Okay Rammjet, I have a few questions about that. I have seen you post about upgrading the Titan.kext before but I am not sure what to change. I thought that I should change the following line: <string>0x03000000&/0xff000000</string> But I am not sure if I should replace those values. And what I should replace them with I tried putting the 0x0298 instead of the 0x0300 but that didn't work. The computer just hung on boot-up. Also the same is true for the IONDRVSupport.kext. Also you mention upgrading the kernel. I thought I had the newest one. I ran the auto update program for the semthex kernel and thougth 8.8.1 was the latest version. Sorry to sound like such a noob.
