If you have access to :D monoid grab a torrent to build your own bootable 10.4.6 DVD. The notes state:

 

Applications : Macintosh : English

its an autopatcher to be run from a working 10.4.5 system

 

information describes a 10.4.5 install - dont worry its the real deal

 

I'm d/l'ing it now and will let you know how it goes...

while Maxxuss may be a good and very bright man, there are other people that are just as capable, and probably took what they learned from Maxxuss himself and did something themselves.

 

oh, and yes...I'm interested to know how it goes.

 

can you post the directions that are with it? I want to know if its something I can do.

This patch, whatever it does, comes as a total surprise to me.

 

I mean, we haven't heard of neither Maxxuss or JaS lately and a 10.4.6 patch comes out of the blue.

 

Some questions about it:

 

- Does it update the kernel to 10.4.6 or does it still use 10.4.4's kernel?

- Did JaS or Maxxuss actually decrypt the new versions of the encrypted binaries, or are we just using unencrypted 10.4.6 files with a downgrade to decrypted 10.4.4/5 files where newer 10.4.6 encrypted files appeared?

 

- The biggest question of all: I'm idling 12+ hours a day on IRC and read this forum a dozen times a day. Never seen JaS talking about that. Has he gone silent, or does the development (and so the usual bugfixes talk) happens elsewhere?

 

Whatever, I'm right now ghosting my perfectly working 10.4.5 installation, just in case it doesn't work. Will try to install later today.

does the gma900 [915gl] qe/cl work after 10.4.6 (jas ppf) update ?

 

do word and other apps still work?

Give´s a iso patcher? i have´nt dmg....

Hi.

I have downloaded the file you're talking about. It's a folder containing various files meant to update the 10.4.4 restore DVD.

What if one wants to directly update the 10.4.5 system to 10.4.6?

 

Maybe the solution would be installing the MACOSXUpd10.4.6Intel (the original one) first and then, before rebooting, installing the file contained in the JaS folder "10.4.6.decrypted.pkg".

 

What do you guys think about it?

it contains a .sh script that can update to 10.4.6 from a working 10.4.5 install

 

the ppf part in the title was misleading - this happened because the original information was thought to be a ppf to update the 10.4.4 restore dmg, i am now informed thats not the case. it has been corrected.

 

there may contain files to patch the dmg to 10.4.5 too, ill get more info off JaS as i dont want to mislead any more... he is around, im realising just how much interest these guys are getting.

 

on a new note, people should describe how to make a working install on:

 

1/ amd systems, from the right unpatched dvd choice to how to patch correctly to get a working o.s

 

2/ intel, from the right unpatched dvd choice to how to patch correctly to get a working o.s

 

 

the rest should then be up to the user, they should be aware that the right choice of motherboard is the result of most issues as we all know apple only supports limited hardware. I feel that the right way to sort alot of **** posts out from newcomers is to describe a step by step guide from unpatched dvd to working o.s, as processor types seem to be what makes getting patched dvds a hassle, and what could result in a better more suited result.

If JaS made it, it'sNOT for MacIntel users. it's for the PC users. if there is a problemwith this, I can remove it.

 

JaS Updated Intel Auto-Patcher For 10.4.4

 

This is an update to the intel auto-patcher.There were a few issues with the first release and I thought it would be a good idea to fix then and re-release this,boot issues are fixed as well as selection of sse3 or sse2 / via/nforce support and the 10.4.5 update.

 

To Use:

1) Drag the 10.4.4 restore disk image named macosx10.4.4dvd.dmg into place-dmg-in-here directory located in the autopatch directory. (rename to macosx10.4.4dvd.dmg if it isn't already named as such)

2) Right/Ctrl-Click PatchIt in the autopatch directory and select Open With and select TextEdit.app from /Applications. (if it is not already in the list)

3) Change line APDIR= to reflect the directory in which you have placed the autopatch directory in. Example: APDIR="/Volumes/OSX1044/Users/user/Desktop/autopatch"

4) Change line BOOTIMG= to reflect the directory in which you what to placed the Bootable Image once its Done. Example: BOOTIMG="/Volumes/OSX1044/Users/user/Desktop/autopatch"

4) Save File and Exit TextEdit.

5) Open Terminal. (Applications->Utilities)

6) Type sudo sh and drag the PatchIt file into the Terminal window and press enter.

7) Enter password when prompted.

8) Wait.

9) Once the script finishes go into your BOOTIMG directory.

10) Burn BurnThisImage.iso to disk.

11) Install 10.4.4. or 10.4.5

ive just made the BurnTHisImage.ISO just fed up of burning DVD each week but the main problem is i dont want to reinstall OSX and loose my config!

maybe booting on the DVD then tickling only 10.4.6 update can be done? else too bad if JAS did such a wonderful 10.4.6 update that he forgot about a 10.4.5 to 10.4.6 update

I hope he can come back in OSX86project.org and post some news

mach_kernel remains unchanged. Not sure which one JaS used.. it shouldn't matter. We are upgrading to .4.6 for the new frameworks, not the kernel?

We are using decrypted files from .4/.5, they are the same.

Ignorantcow do u expect 10.4.6 to work properly using all the 10.4.5 decrypted files? im not sure this is the best solution.

 

What about a 10.4.5 to 10.4.6 upgrade instead of a new DVD?

 

i remember trying the 10.4.6 ATI extensions under 10.4.5 and having a black screen after loginwindow i dont know how u get rid of this using the 10.4.5 decrypted files...

 

and about the IRC.R-TYPE.CA plz ask JAS to UNBAN me that suxx :)
