I was reading a forum and it was talking about that you could not have more than 4 gigs of memory or you would have freezes....I just ordered 8gb and I guess Im screwed now. I have owned real macs for the past 6 years but i am fairly new to the osx86 world. I am having to sell my 24 inch IMac because of the wonderful economy ( I still have my Macbook). I have a PK5-Vm motherboard...2.40 intel quad-core. I have seen the links to the kext to fix this problem but im just not sure which to use. its all new to me. My machine is running great right now but I notice some slowdowns when using adobe premiere pro. I am using XxX 10.5.5. If anyone can make sense of my ramblings and can help, It would be greatly appreciated.

Just remember no IDE devices if you have a jmicron controller that is where the panics come from.

Really? I have a second hard drive and a dvd drive on a IDE. My main drive is sata and i have a blu-ray thats sata. I didn't realize this. I am not having any problems right now with 2 gb right now.

Any time I tested it with my machines I can get a kernel panic within seconds of putting a load on the system I have seen some that say the fixed jmicron stops it perhaps you have it installed it never worked for me though.

If I have the problem when i get the memory installed, i will remove the IDE drives and see what happens.
