Okay. I assembled this little machine with the Intel Atom Dual Core board/cpu combo...

I've tried Kalyway 10.5.2 and IATKOS 5i..........

Kalyway hangs on the install screen as it's calculating space.... IATKOS installs but won't boot.

I've done nothing to the Bios of the board.........Should I have???

This isn't turning out to be as straight forward as I originally though.........

Can someone assist??

Thanks in advance.

Unaclocker,

Thanks for the reply. I installed Kalyway 10.5.1, updated with .2 and now going to .3 with your -v suggestion. Will post results. Is it possible to go to 10.5.5

using this board?

Hit F8 and type update -v is resulting in the grey apple screen....... nothing more.... oh oh....

Now what? Reinstall?

DSSKing

I have the same board, works flawlessly on 10.5.5 other then the sound card only providing output and no input for a mic, but that can be solved with a USB mic.

I'll post back here again today when I get a chance with a detailed guide of what I did.

gotta love how everyone jumped on this board :-) i have a live leopard i built on a usb hdd which booted oob, so i can certainly attest to the osx friendliness of this board. at boot i got gpu, temperature sensors, all 4 threads, and accurate smbios readings.

from here i installed kalyway 10.5.2 followed by chameleon to an ide and it would not boot. the bios seems a bit finniky but this was unexpected since the usb install worked fine.

does anyone have any thoughts on this?

EDIT

i pulled two drives, one sata(mbr) and one ide(guid) from another box, both with osx86 installs on them that booted without even forcing a reload (-f), so no its just a matter of finding another test drive to verify its a disk issue and not something weird about installs that are done from this board - again, if anyone has any insight into this, holler :-)

This guide is only for the Intel D945GCLF2 with the Intel Atom 330 Processor. (Yes it's a Dual Core)

Proceed at your own risk! And always make backups if you want anything saved!

Grab the Pre Update and Post Update Patches;

Open Google and search for "Combo_Update_Patches.1.2.0.zip" (Do Not include the quotes)

It should be the 1st link. Download it and extract it to your desktop.

You will only need the Pink & Blue Package, you can delete the Green one.

1. Run the Pre Update Patch. (DO NOT RESTART!)

2. Run the Official Apple Combo Update (DO NOT RESTART!)

3. Run the Post Update Patch. On the 2nd Screen Click "CUSTOMIZE" in the bottom left.

(If you don't see the Customize option, you will have to reboot using -v till you get a clean boot and start over

and do steps 1 & 2 again. If the system won't boot shutdown and restart again using -v otherwise re-install)

YOU MUST CUSTOMIZE!

SELECT ONLY THE FOLLOWING, NOTHING ELSE!

IF YOU CHOOSE TO SELECT ANYTHING NOT LISTED DON'T

COME CRYING TO ME IF IT DOES NOT WORK!

KERNEL - 9.5.0 Vanilla

CHIPSET - Intel ICH AHCI

VIDEO - Intel 900 Series

AUDIO - Just select the restore option if working or if your audio is not working use the "Azalia" driver.

NETWORK - Just Restore

SYSTEM FUNCTIONS - SMBIOS (Select Mac Pro)

DSMOS FIX - DSMOS Script Fix

Make sure to uncheck anything not listed above! SERIOUSLY!

Once the install has completed successfully you can reboot again using -v when the system boots up until you

have successfully booted into osx.

Please have patience and let all processes complete.

Do not worry if the system reboots, or if you have a black screen for a min or two.

Make sure when you boot your using -v when booting!!!

The CPU will show as 1.6GHz Unknown, it's really easy to fix this!

See this thread to download the patch.

Thanks! I'll try it when I get home........my mistake last night was downloading the update on my PC, and extracting it....

Rar couldn't create some of the folders........I suppose I need to to this on the mac platform.... SO this will be the

project when I get home from the office today...........

I will post results. Currently, I installed Kalyway 10.5.1 and it's running....

Thanks

DSSKing

I have a driver pack and some other files I'm going to add to this guide shortly,

you might want to wait for those before starting.

Okay.....update is complete and it shows 10.5.5. Now I have to Keybaord and mouse working........... (it worked before).

How do I get it going again? EDIT - Just found out that sound stopped working too.

Am I missing a step??

Much Appreciated.

DSSKing (Still frustrated)

odd...

1. Did you choose to restore audio?

2. I'm pretty sure I have USB Legacy Support enabled and mine work fine.

Try the drivers I included in this post. (Make a backup before running this to be safe.)

I found them online somewhere, can't recall where.

EDIT:

While browsing the forums I found where these files came from.

All credit goes to iSynapse, you can view his post here.

Intel_D945GCLF2_Driver_Installation_v1.0.pkg.zip

I've posted this guide along with some added files and a guide for using a retail dvd of osx86 on my blog.

Credit goes to iSynapse again for the files (Excluding the file "D945GCLF2_Kalyway.rtf")

Thanks VERY much for the help.....however, now it gets better.

I was able to install Kalyway 10.5.1 flawlessly.... I go the bright idea this morning to partition

the drive and have the updates readily available rather than download... not a good idea.

I've repartitioned the drive to one partition, GUI, Journaled. Everything looks and installs fine...

However, upon reboot, it says :

/com.apple.boot.plist not found. It hangs there. I've even tried another DVD..... Nope.

So I'm guessing it's what I did to the HDD?

It worked prior to this! This has gone from a fun project to heaving it out the window. Building

my 57 Bel Air wasn't this challenging!

Any help would GREATLY be apprecaited.

Okay, here's what I did for 95% success :

Loaded Kalyway 10.5.1 and had everything working (Network, USB, Sound, Keyboard/Mouse on PS/2).

Loaded the Preinstall pack, loaded Apple's 10.5.5, loaded Postinstall pack,

chose the options that ATTNCK outlined (Thanks!) and rebooted.

It hung on the first reboot - I hit reset and let it go again........ It worked.

I just have to get the PS2 Mouse and Keyboard working once I can find the correct kext.... that,

and I have to get a USB mouse and keyboard anyway to enter the password for access (root).

I still want PS2 support because at home, I'm using a KMV switch. Otherwise, USB wouldn't be an issue.

Anyone have the KEXT for PS/2??

Thanks again guys.

Stop wasting your time with Kalyway. Install iATKOS 5i, and you can just use software update direct from Apple to update from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6. Everything works out of the box, sound, shutdown, sleep, network, UPDATES.. And iATKOS boots up and shuts down about 3x faster than Kalyway.

OK UnaClocker. What were your settings?

IPC 10.5.6 also works fine with this board.

just boot with -v option, then customize with Intel GMA 950 graphics, ALC662 AND Azalia Audio drivers, shutdown/restart fix, dual boot time sync, under applications, select OSx86 Tools Utility.

Install OS X, reboot and everything should work. Just run OSx86 Tools and enable quartz acceleration, then reboot and enjoy. No fooling around with a single kext and everything except the input mike should be working perfectly.

i just bought this board. i was hoping to build a little htpc running osx and boxee with the video out and using a ir remote with remote buddy. Has anyone got video out working through the svideo? i actually have a svideo to rca yellow conversion on it as well and was hoping i could get it to work that way. im ready to try but am looking to see if anyone has tried a similar setup?

Thanks
