hi!

after i've seen the osx on a macbook of a fried of mine i kinda became obsessed with it. so i installed it on my acer laptop and now i just got to have the original!!!!

but than there is one big question: which one is macright?macbook?macbook white? macbook pro?

since i'm an architect student i need it primarily for cad and 3d apps and photoshop (archiCAD, autoCAD, cinema 4d and the adobe selection) so a big screen might come in handy which suggest mbpro but its so damn expensive and the specs of a macbook would totaly suffice for my puposes i guess, what do you think?

when it comes to the macbook than there are again 2 the normal mac book nothing and the mac book white which is as i understood it the old generation with a new name. this one is pretty cheap (compared to other mbs) but is it wort the saving???

Sometimes you have to pay for power. Think of it this way. You'd buy a PC with similar specs, for about $800-1000. You'd have to keep upgrading it every 6-8 months. This MacBook Pro will last you about 4-5 years without needing any upgrade.

Lol you don't need to upgrade your pc hardware every 6-8 months.

this is pretty much my way of thinking. the hardware is more than enough for now and wont be concidered slow for quite some time but the 13" screen sucks, specially if you are drawing on that thing.

using an external screen might do the trick but i have to work at the university as well and i dont want to carry the big screen around

Anyone who keeps a computer for 4-5 years is asking for trouble. Especially a laptop. Oh and get the pro if you work in CAD, well worth the expenditure when my applecare runs out in august, I will be buying a new MacBook Pro. I am excited to see what they have come out with by then.

I know plenty of people who still use iBook G3s and PowerBooks from 4-7 years ago. They don't care enough to upgrade and they run Leopard just fine.

Yes you do, if you want to be up to date and run everything to its full potential.

@Schnukums: I would get a MB + an external monitor. Use the monitor when you're in your dorm, and use the MB screen when you're anywhere else. I know a few architecture students who use tablet PCs (they are small, 11-13") and they use an external monitor when in their dorms and they couldn't be happier (except if they had a Mac :)).
