Does it work with ICH10R? It seems to install on my IDE hdd but when i try to boot to it i get to the Apple boot screen with the black spinning disc if i put cpus=1 but it stops just after loading seatbelt on boot. I'll update with a pic.

Current system

  • Intel Q6600 Quad running at 3.0ghz
  • 6gb OCZ ram (4gb 2x2048 kit and 2gb 2x1024 kit)
  • GeForce 9800 GTX+
  • Asrock P43Twin1600
  • 2x 300gb Segate sata
  • 1x 150gb WD Sata
  • 1x 80gb WD IDE (where im trying to install)
  • LiteOn External DVD drive
  • ICH10R NB (ALC888)

Any suggestions on why it would stop at that particular place would be greatly appreciated.

Had this successfully installed on MSI P4M900M3 With core2duo E4600 and the 2gb ram kit.

Hey, I am writing this from iDeneb 10.5.5 with an e8400 on the p43twin1600 mobo. So...Yes, it should work.

Haven't gotten the sound(realtek ac888) to work (yet) but mostly all else seems good (ethernet, etc.)

try booting with -v -s (maybe -f if you have a ps2 keyboard <-- not sure if this is neccessary) and try to get the specific lines where it stops booting.

Like you said, updating with a pic would help.

-v is verbose, that'll let you see where it's hanging.

-s is single user, this will not load all the kexts, and will drop you at a command prompt. Kinda useless, unless you plan to manually fix some kexts while you're in there.

-x which you didn't mention is a safe mode boot. Still kind of useless.

-f has nothing to do with a PS/2 keyboard/mouse. It tells the OS to flush the kext cache and reload the kexts.

As for loading with cpus=1.. The joys of Asus.. You'll need a patched bios.

i have a Asrock board mine is a sata 2.0 with iDeneb 10.5.5 and it would not boot the whole time i had overclocked in the bios. when i went to stock speed os86 would boot as it should . dont know if this is your prob , figured the info cant hurt, good luck

Also what options did you set during installation? ie. Nvinject, Modded Kernel.. etc.. I ask because i set it to stock and im still not getting it to boot up.. I am putting it on the ide drive. I'll try my sata later.

Thanks

i have this exact board and i'm working on getting it up and running right now. I can get to the installer after a 4 minute boot screen but it doesn't see my sata drive. it's in the bios so the system sees it.

edit: needed to put the sata on enhanced in the bios

looks like i'm exactly where you were. I wonder how you got past this.

For anyone that has this board, this is how Tempted and I installed:

NOTE: To install windows on this board I had to set the SATA to IDE, to install OS X I had to set the SATA to AHCI. You do this in the IDE menu on the second or third tab in the BIOS.

- Install windows (Set IDE -> SATA to IDE in BIOS)

- Used iDeneb 10.5.5

- Updated our BIOS from ASRock to 1.90 (Tempted used 1.80) (done in Windows with ASRock's included utility from download)

- Flashed our BIOS to P43Twins1600 1.80 found on http://www.osxcores.site50.net/page1/page1.html (done in Windows)

- When rebooting the CMOS says it's corrupt, just press the button (f1, I think) that says "Load default settings", boot into windows and reboot, should be find now.

- Configure your BIOS however you want, probably have to change order of DVD boot drives and enable PCI memory Remapping (or something similar, can't remember off the top of my head)

- Set IDE -> SATA to AHCI in BIOS

- Install iDeneb (I installed with NVInject for my 9800GT and the bottom Kernel, 9.2.2)

You should be ready to rock now. PM me if you have any problems.

Also for those of you using windows Vista as second boot on this drive.. you can load the AHCI driver after installing non-ahci so you dont have to keep changing it in bios.. Do the following

You have to boot into IDE mode first.
1. Exit all Windows-based programs.
2. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
4. Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
5. In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
7. On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor

Reboot your comp, Set board to AHCI and away you go!

my English is not good but my ASRock board is going very well with IDeneb v. 1.3 Leopard 10.5.5

You may not install kernel 9.5.0 otherwise you get when you boot "kernel panic" During the installation you need to choose the kernel 9.4.0 Stage XNU ( is suitable for ASRock board ! ) is running very well and without a kernel panic!

I have a ASRock K8 Combo-Z with AMD 3000 + (1800 Mhz) it is an old board but it works very well. :)
