Maxintosh
For those who use Parallels , the new version of Parallels Desktop 4.0 has officially been released. You can learn more by going here. Has anyone tried it yet? Was thinking of getting it but not sure if it's the best program for running windows on a Mac. What do you guys recommend? Alex HQuest
I was eager to get the so-called 30% performance gains from this new version. Now I think I would gain 50%+ performance by upgrading my entire machine. SwithDrawn
I was able to install it, but got the message "The virtual machine cannot be started because hardware virtualization support is disabled on your Mac" when trying to create a virtual machine. Chrysaor
If you are getting that message, that means your CPU lacks hardware virtualization (Intel VT-X). SwithDrawn
Yeah, you have to look in your bios to enable the Intel virtualization tech. I enabled it, installing XP now. chris512
I've Installed this and as soon as osx reboots I get this message: prl_client_app quit it says it every time I try and start Parallels. Anyone know what this is? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/136080-parallels-desktop-40-released/#findComment-965079 Share on other sites
NickRiley
Hm... well in this case i'm wondering why do need to upgrade to version 4.0 if Parallels 3 work perfect on AMD, i have an 5600+ Athlon and i'm running Windows XP in Parallels able to run even Counter Strike:Source.. not talking about simple apps.. ChesBiscuit
I upgraded from parallels 3 to 4, and have a MUCH slower experience now. I only use windows for a few small apps and minesweeper, but graphics performance and moving windows around is abysmal now. I'm guessing something graphics related in the new version isn't being enabled correctly on my hackintosh.
