I've got a partition problem when trying to install on an hdx 16. I keep selecting parittion disk0s3 to be erased and formatted as osx extended (jouraled), but after telling it to erase, it reloads and its format nor label changes. Anyone have any ideas? I've tried both leo4all and iPc. One thing though: When I reboot into linux, gparted picks up its label and partition type. However, when I try the install osx86 and use disk utility , it's picked up as a linux partition and it won't give me that partition as an option and im back in the same mess where disk utility reloads but changes nothing

Update: With iDeneb, I can rename a partition when I erase it as fat32, but when I try to erase a partition as hfs+, it goes back to its original label and disk utility says it's a fat32 partition.

Update 2: Finally got disk utility to format it. I had to mark it as bootable with gparted. New problem though: black screen when booting up after installing nvdarwin 1.2.5

Update 3: Update 3: BLACK SCREEN ISSUE SOLVED!!! For those of you having issues with the black screen, do the following:

remove all injectors and all efi strings and download the nvidia kexts from here. Then open a text editor and copy and paste this into it:

   <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
  <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

  <string>NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT</string>
  <key>rom-revision</key>
  <string>test</string>
  </dict>
  </dict>
  </plist>

. Then call it whatever you want with a .plist extension. After that, use osx86 to convert that to hexadecimal and add it to apple.boot.plist. Install the drivers, repair permissions, clear the extensions cache, and reboot.

I'm on an HDX16 1010EA, found that the left side USB ports and webcam wouldn't work in 10.5.6 until I disabled the AppleHPET kext, as soon as I did that they worked fine. Running stock 9.60 kext/kernel on iDeneb 1.4. Only thing that bothers me now is the card reader isn't working, Disk Utility sees a drive when I insert a card having installed the JMicronSDReader kext, but won't access the contents.

EDIT: Now have the memory card reader working, replacing the kext from the original post (JMicronSDReader.tar.gz) with the one from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/osxsdhci/ and it's working fine :)

Haven't tested the PCCard slot / HDMI yet, but don't usually use them anyway so no great loss, next on the list is replacing the Intel 5100 wireless and hacking the BIOS whitelist...

Got my HDX install almost fully working. Had to modify com.apple.Boot.plist in order to get the Graphic's working.

Of course, the Intel internal card doesn't work, but I purchased a $30.00 USB Dongle that does the trick.

My one problem is as such - removing the AppleHPET kext did the trick for the webcam, until the time came to install the sound kexts. I installed the two recommended Sound Kexts, and the Webcam stopped working. Any suggestions?

-Sound card: Intel IDT HDA (111D:76B2, 8086:293E). Download 2 kext files AppleHDA.kext and AppleHDAEnabler.kext, use Kext Helper to install the kexts. Reboot and your sound card is ready for use.

-

Where do you download these 2 kext files from...they arent on onetimesales and i cant find them by googling

thanks

Ok Ive ordered the HDX 16 but have not received it yet...but out of curiosity, can anyone give me a rundown of the battery life on their hdx 16 if you already have leopard working

just thought it was worth while comparing it to regular Windows XP or Vista battery run times

OK the newer HDX 18's have nVidia sound - so no drivers for sound at all?

Here's what I did to get everything except sound and WiFi working:

Look for the iPC X-DL 10.5.6 here:

http://######.com/ipcosx86/?page_id=201

Burn the ISO to a DL-DVD and boot from it

Install only the OS (this also installs the Chameleon bootloader .12), the keyboard kexts, and the battery monitor - don't install the video or any other drivers from this disk.

Reboot and follow the instructions at the beginning of this thread for installing the video drivers but don't install the audio drivers as I don't think they'll work with the nVidia HDA? Maybe there is a workaround for this?

I've not been able to get shutdown and sleep to work - I've tried the OpenHaltRestart_1.0.3.kext but it didn't work. The machine starts the shutdown but doesn't actually power the machine off - sleep is similar - display goes black but everything else stays on - any suggestions?

hey guys... i have the HP HDX 16, and i can install iDeneb 10.5.6 and iPC 10.5.6 successfully, but after restarting and booting up for the first time I see a black screen after the white/apple loading screen...i think the monitor is off b/c there is no backlight...i can here sounds (such as the intro video sound) but i cannot see anything...ive tried booting with -x, -s, and all the other commands...i've also tried "GRAPHICS..."="1024x768x32@65"

nothing seems to work...does any one have the slightest clue b/c it seems like no one else is having this same black screen problem b/c this laptop looks like it is extremely compatible to be a hackintosh

Another question regarding the HDX16 backlight has anyone been able to get the quick launch brightness buttons working? (FN + F7 and FN + F8) auto dim also fails to engage when running on battery?

vpatel91 i cant really offer much advice as ive not encountered this with my HDX16 but I would check to see if the video output is being sent via the VGA or HDMI port instead of the main LCD. If this is the case then I think your injector or EFI string has an incorrect NVCAP setting.

Here is some information on NVCAP, I hope it can help you in some way: http://nvinject.free.fr/forums/viewtopic.php?t=214

I ran into the same issue on my desktop hack by using the OpenHaltRestart_1.0.3.kext from LS8 P35-DS4 install pack. I downloaded the OpenHaltRestart.kext straight from Psystar http://www.psystar.com/opensource/openhaltrestart and it work perfectly.

Interestingly the kext in the OpenHaltRestart_1.0.3.kext.zip file from Psystar does not contain the _1.0.3 in the actual kext filename.

I used OpenHaltRestart with a vanilla AppleACPIPlatform as suggested by LS8.

Sleep, Restart and Shutdown are all working great.

i hope this helps you solve this issue.

p.s. to wake from sleep correctly i had to set the restart on power loss checkbox in the power settings part of the control panel.

Just got my HP HDX 16 working. I recommend iAtkos 10.5.7.

After configuring correctly - select no graphic injectors/drivers on install, please!, you need to use an EFI string depending on your card, and put it in com.apple.boot.Plist. That will fix your graphics.

You also probably need AppleHDA and HDAEnabler for your sound. This should *break* USB, so remove AppleHPET.kext as well (which will get webcam and everything working).

Don't use VoodooHDA or VoodooPS2, but make sure you have the proper PS2keyboard/mouse drivers for your onboard laptop controls.

That should be about it!

Hey, ok i have the HDX16...what PS2keyboard/mouse drivers did you use...and I have the nvidia 9600m gt card in mine, if you have that, what did you use to get your graphics working..And also, do you have QE/CI working as well...

Thanks

ApplePS2Controller.kext did the trick for me. For my graphics, I used an EFI string.

Use this as your com.apple.Boot.plist - and yes, QE/CI works.

Right, so, the reason you would get a black screen was that because your graphics injectors were wrong, and so you weren't getting graphics. This should fix it. Remember - you can always boot without any sort of EFI string / graphics injectors and at least get a picture to start from.

hello, was wondering if anyone using EFI String for graphics card has their VGA OUT working?

Everything is working great on my machine except the VGA out (and wifi of course). I can use the efi string from above but any time i try to fn-f4, it freezes the machine (HDMI works tho.. i just plug it in and it auto-detects and shows).

I don't really care about the HDMI, i'd rather have the VGA out (for connecting to projector).

I tried using the nvflash to get the rom, but I keep getting "Supported EEPROM not found" when i try to save. I've tried various versions of nvflash from 5.5 to 5.8. All with the same result. And yes, I'm using a boot disk to load directly into dos.

Does anyone have a valid plist / nvcap w/ working VGA out?

My System:

HP HDX16t Premium Series Notebook PC

• Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)

• Intel® Core2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53 GHz, 3 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)

• FREE Upgrade to 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) from 3GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)

• 500GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection

• 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT

• 16.0" diagonal High Definition HP Ultra BrightView Infinity Display (1920x1080p)

• FREE Upgrade to Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer

Hi everyone

I just inherited the 20' HDX and would like to do an OS X install on it. This will be my first install and I intend to use the Boot 132 method

seems like there are older posts where people were having problems with the Graphics card in this model (8800m gts) and the sound card (but it seems everyone got that working with the voodoohda.kext)

I was wondering if anyone had tried on one of these models and if there is anything else I should look out for?

thanks

Ok So I actually decided to take the plunge and go the OSx86 route downloaded ideneb 10.5.6 but after install I get the dreaded black screen. I wont even let me boot into safe mode. I realize that it must be loading the wrong video drivers but I couldnt find anywhere during the install to un select them like in the OP walk through. Could Someone please let me know What I am doing wrong.

Super noob at this so any help would be much appreciated

thanks

Thanks to everyone in this thread. I finally have a near perfect Mac on my HDX16. The only thing I don't have working is Sleep and Restart. Well the card reader too, but I haven't attempted to get that working yet. But everything else works almost perfectly. So, has anyone figured out how to get Sleep working? One last issue, the battery meter does not show up. Any suggestions?

For battery meter:

check out: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi...hp/t136309.html

I also have hdx16 and the battery fix worked for me. There is also link to get the card reader semi-working. (make sure you don't miss the link to download all the files you need)

For the sleep, i recall reading somewhere that you can try changing the setting for "resume after sleep" in power settings... i don't know i haven't tried it yet. For now, i just make it so the machine doesn't sleep :D

QUESTION: have you gotten VGA output working (e.g. can you connect your laptop to an external monitor?) That's the one thing i can't get working.

I have the 9600M GT 512 MB.

Any advice you could provide would be GREATLY appreciated!
