Sound would be nice but not a must Computer is a Gateway m-6824(incase you missed it) I will also donate something to the maker of the iso file used total amount will depend on if my company is willing to help. Sapient
I have a similar specced machine, and have never gotten OSX working on it until I tried the iDENEB image. A few false starts, but I am adding this reply with a very freshly installed Hackbook. Important to note, I am an Ultra-noob at this OSX86 business, but it took me less than a day to get to this point, so if you dont come right with any other images, give iDeneb a bash (as a bonus, its 10.5.5)
TomAngel
Hi man... did you ever tried a hacked distro on it? Your Notebook is quite similar to mine except CPU and graphic-chip. I had my best success on iDeneb v1.1 (Leo 10.5.4). Format Partition as MBR. CardReader : Forget it an buy an external for 5€ Modem : I think you will not get it to work... LAN/WLAN : depends on chipset... VGA : Radeon HD2400XT basically supported think it will work by adding DevID to kext. ext. VGA : don't think it will work but good luck Audio : will work with Azalia Audio Pointingdevice over PCI-E34 : not sure, but try USB-Mouse to install if it doesn't work. Express-Card Slot : good chance if it is by TexasInstruments. When you are able to install, load PCI-Utilities for OSX and use lspci to get Device and Vendor IDs. Elseways if you run a Windows you can get them too from Hardware Manager in detail. I do not have any financial Interests. I'm proud to help others to throw Windoof away! french squared
Im downloading iDened to try it. I was able to install kalyway, and vanilla kernel. It completes the boot process but stops when trying to open the login window. Hopefully that will help someone understand where I am at.
mschilling
ideneb lists that ATI 2400 XT in the list of video drivers, give it a go and let us know if it works!
TomAngel
Probably you will have to add Vendor and DeviceID to kext by starting in Single-User-Mode. Type -s at darwin bootloader. mount Filesystem and add IDs to the right kext using nano. That should work for you...
french squared
I understand the -s for single user but no idea how to add the kext. can you explain or send me to a tutorial. Also what kext should I google. I can boot into single use and U get a root command promt

MGJulius
Question are you able to boot into osx now, cause if you can just use the terminal inside the os. If you cant boot try "-x -v" at the F8 prompt
french squared
NO, I cannot boot into OSX, and if I use -v I can see it makes it all the way through the boot process. Then opens the login windows and nothing happens. it just sits there. I can get to a unix prompt with -s I am installing linux on another partition. I was going to try to use linux to modify the kext files since I cant seem to get root privilages on OSX But I will try what you said first. To those that said try iDeneb I have tried two different iso ov v1.3 and nether will boot the system. but I do have a full install of Kalyaway and vanilla. just no GUI
zeffa
What parameters are you selecting when you install? In my experience with Kalyway (haven't tried the others yet) less is more... eg. no kernel & only the drivers that you need. If the install works, then you'll get a system with mostly default settings, and you'll need to fiddle around with or install a few kexts to get everything working. You shouldn't have to edit any kexts from the boot menu to get it to work.

french squared
So, triple boot is working. I used fedora to copy the OSX boot file off the kalyaway cd I then configured grub to boot osx off that partition. ALL is good Question are you able to boot into osx now, cause if you can just use the terminal inside the os. If you cant boot try "-x -v" at the F8 prompt So, I reinstalled with no kernal checked and only the ati drivers I then used -x -v and I just finished all settings and I am looking at an OSX desktop, in safe mode but FREAKING COOL what now

Ichijoe
So I finally got the kext edit and installed. My Triple boot is working. I have Vista, Fedora and OSX working Thanks Guys any ideas how to get the correct resolution? So did you ever get the Embeded Mobiliy Radeon HD2400 (XT) to work? presumably @ 1024x768 with or without QE/CI? Or can you do better? Any chance you could post your *.kext File(s), here for others like me with who have a non-working Mobility Radion HD2400 in there Laptops', can start to actually get them working under OSX 10.5.x?? And by *WORKING* I mean with the Internal Monitor, and not with solely though either the VGA or DVI-D!!
