mazinkaiser
I installed OSX 10.4.4 (patched with the Maxxuss DVD easy Patcher) to a separate HDD on my PC. After installing. it wont boot.. all I get is a black screen with a white flashing prompt bar. Tried chain0.. didnt work for me.. My mobo has an easy boot manager (pressing F8 when at BIOS) to choose your boot device.. I can boot to WXP ok this way,, but get the same error as above (black screen with prompt) when booting OSX I can boot to oSX using my OSX DVD as primary boot device.. and when it asks to install OSX , I press F8 and get a "boot" prompt.. Here I type rd=disk0s2 and then Im inside OSX .. In OSX I choose my OSX HDD as the startup disk, I reboot with the same black screen error.. I tried the com.apple.boot.plsit edit thing with no results..(maybe Im doing something wrong) I have read a lot of threads, searched the forum and the web with no results Please some kind help thank you OSX HDD is master drive WXP HDD is slave on the same IDE channel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12915-osx-1044-not-booting/ Share on other sites

Hm, yes maybe: Seems like something went wrong with the bootsector. When you install via DVD, make sure to let the diskutility program in the setup menue delete the disk. This will make sure, that it will be bootable. You can also write the bootloader if you boot via dvd to your drive in -s mode (type rd=disk#s# -s) and then do a sudo bless -mount /Volumes/your_bootvolume_here -setBoot. But I never tried that manually. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12915-osx-1044-not-booting/#findComment-82767 Share on other sites

I tried " rd=disk1s2 -s then sudo bless -mount /Volumes/MacintoshHD -setBoot" but i get an error "IODeviceTree:/options". Any ideas? user2
I had a similar problem. Download Hirens boot cd (about 65 megs) boot it and select mbr tools and set your partition to active. Worked perfectly for me. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12915-osx-1044-not-booting/#findComment-97692 Share on other sites
rhodar
I had a similar problem. Download Hirens boot cd (about 65 megs) boot it and select mbr tools and set your partition to active. Worked perfectly for me. i tried hirens boot cd, and if you are saying to use that to make my partition active, it is already active. Is there something else i need to do with hiren's boot cd? The only other time i have gotten anywhere else, i am stuck with a b0 error. Is there something wrong with the 10.4.4 version of the install, or maybe the disk utility on the cd? We have some talented people on these forums, and there are lots of people stranded with this same problem, so is someone able to come up with some way to fix this? Thanks in advance Rhodar Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12915-osx-1044-not-booting/#findComment-99896 Share on other sites
thedopefishlives
I'm having this problem too. For that matter, I can't even run the installer on my disk because it can't bless the partition. A little help, please? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12915-osx-1044-not-booting/#findComment-101991 Share on other sites
user2
I'm sorry; the boot cd seems to only fix the b0 error. Although when I tried the 10.4.6 DVD on a separate drive I did get the blinking cursor. The only thing that worked for me was to use disk utility from the DVD and format the drive as a Linux disk and then format it again as Mac Os extended. Then after the install I got the B0 error and could use the boot cd to set it active. I have know Idea why this worked except the mount point was just /. and not /volumes/etc Hope that’s a start.
