kernalzero
Anyone have experience with this board and Corsair XMS PC-5400 DDR2 675??? It's listed as compatible by corsair but doesn't mean it'll work at full speed. I got it from newegg so I doubt i'll have a problem returning it but i don't want to deal with the hassle if they won't accept it back! It's part #TWIN2X1024-5400C4 thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12690-asus-p5ld2-vm-the-perfect-motherboard/page/2/#findComment-88939 Share on other sites
OPTiK
Yeah for some reason my GEIL is showing up at PC2-3200 when it PC2-4300 http://www.geil.com.tw/portal/product_DDR2-533DC.php Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12690-asus-p5ld2-vm-the-perfect-motherboard/page/2/#findComment-88950 Share on other sites
declan
My honest opinion is if its listed with asus it might be ok, corsair seem to be the most compatible. I have had problems till i used the manual to pick the exact ram. "Yeah for some reason my GEIL is showing up at PC2-3200 when it PC2-4300", have you set it to auto or manual, normally on manual you can get at least 533, but 667 is the main picky one. Set what to auto or manual? Not sure I know what you mean. declan
In the bios you can set ddr ram on auto or choose speed, ie 400, 533 and if lucky 667 Advanced Menu Jumperfree configuration Set overclock profile to manual DRAM frequency I also found if you wanna use a overclock profile, set it manual select DDR Frequency you want, then change the profile back to one of you choice. OPTiK
Yeah I remember trying that. I posted a topic here http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=12605 You've read it declan, so I think you know my situation but I'll try that out anyways and see what happens. RiceTea
How about blaming GEIL not the mobo? OPTiK
LOL no problem.. Well I tried what you suggested. No go. I can't seem to get past DDR2-300. If I try to go higher, when I reboot my monitor goes into standby and the system halts. The reset button wont restart the machine, only pressing and holding the power botton work to restart it. Apon restart I get this error Here's a pic of my bois 'jumper free' page Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12690-asus-p5ld2-vm-the-perfect-motherboard/page/2/#findComment-88991 Share on other sites
declan
I have to say i was in the same situation, bought some 667 and took three attempts to get it right, i know you he feel.. OPTiK
How about blaming GEIL not the mobo? I know LOTS of people with GEIL memory and it works perfectly fine on other mobos, so yeah, is ASUS's problem Declan, you think it could be voltage? declan
Was that with overclocking, have you tried increasing DDR2 speed without overclocking, some DDR2 chips don't overclock well with that board, or at all for that matter. 92GTA
the orientation of the jacks is hardware based not software or OS based...the audio out is always audio out not matter if you run linux, osx or windows. If the jack works under windows you may want to check out the topics about getting the audio to work on this board http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=11758 Ok.....then I guess all of the D945GNTLKR owners are out of their mind then right? Good idea... I'll try that and get back as soon as I know. UPDATE:: Okay I tried to just overclock the ram the RAM to PC2-533 and it worked to the point where I can successfuly restart the machine, but booting into an OS is another story. Booting into Mac OS resulted in this and booting into windows? well there was nothing to take a picture off, just a bank screen LOL. I have no clue at this point.. I give up Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12690-asus-p5ld2-vm-the-perfect-motherboard/page/2/#findComment-89005 Share on other sites
kernalzero
Ok.....then I guess all of the D945GNTLKR owners are out of their mind then right? That's some {censored}, i've never seen that before in my life! Jumped the gun on that post! You learn something everyday... I don't have this board yet, it's sitting on a ups truck somewhere en route, but from everything I've read the audio outputs work fine just not the input, you just have to disable the audio in the bios before installing osx and follow the instructions in that link I posted above. OPTiK
I didn't have to disable the audio in the bois before installing OSX. I just followed thrunners guide in my thread and it worked fine after that. I had some problems before because I missed one number in the device ID. 0880 instead 0882 in the Azailia kext. kernalzero
Any news on this board and how it stands up with 10.4.6??? I have the update package but don't want to dive right in and blow a working install. Gotta figure out how to backup this install first but figured I would check the boards for successes/failures... AJ Moore
Just wondering... I have the P5LD2-VM. Mushkin EM memory rated for 667 MHz, and a Pentium D with the 533 MHz FSB. When I go into the BIOS, it only gives me [Auto], [400] and [533]. Is it limiting becasue it i being picky, or because the cpu won't let the board go higher? nethak
I had the same issue. I have PQI 667MHz PC-5300 memory and when I had a Pentium D 805, it would only show [533]. When I upgraded to a Pentium D 920, the [667] option appeared. I'm guessing that the [667] option only appears when you have a CPU with a bus speed of >533MHz. I have some question about this mobo 1 Can anyone confirm that I can use asus DVI-ADD2 N with this mobo 2 Can I connect 20" Apple Cinema Display to DVI-ADD2 card and boot properly.. Thank you very much I read an earlier post which said a DVI-ADD2 N card was not compatible with the P5LD2-VM and this is incorrect. I have a DVI-ADD2 N card in mine and things work perfectly with my DVI monitor. That said, the answers to your first two questions (albeit a month or two late) should be "yes." BTW: My DVI-ADD2 N card was actually a used "pull" from a Dell system. I found on eBay for under $10.
