fatalbert18
This will be my first time building an Intel computer with SSE3 and I just want to know if this motherboard is perfectly working for you guys? I need things like Line In on the onboard sound, accellerated video and Firewire/USB. Do those all work without editing kexts etc.? Â I'm thinking of going with... Â Â Asus P5LD2-VM mobo ~3 ghz Celeron D 1gb DDR2 RAM GMA950 onboard onboard sound Lite On DVDRW That I already have. Â Â Â Will this be an ideal setup for a person that has barely ever used MacOSX before? I don't want to really deal with much of the kexts and stuff. And I don't want to buy a Mac Mini either as this will be much cheaper (300 bucks). Â Â Â Let me know. Â Â Â Thanks. atae
Im running one and everything runs native. I had to patch the audio and i have not tried the line in. The graphics are no problem and i had 0 trouble getting everything up and running. Even detected my SATA drive natively. I purcahsed a D-link DWL-G520 and it was detected as an airport extreme so i have not tried using the onboard ethernet. marliwahoo
I just checked and I don't think this board has firewire. Please let me know if I'm wrong. I'm thinking of building a box myself. Right now my choice is the Intel 945GNTLKR. It has 950 graphics, firewire etc. and everything works. Please, if the Asus board has built-in firewire, intel graphics and a working network card l would like to know. atae
The board does not have firewire. But everything else works fine except audio line in. With some kext updating of course. simisimisimi
hey guys, i just bought that asus p5ld2-vm too, and it now i'm reading your posts and it seems like it was the right thing to do! cool! Â however, i have some questions still: Â 1) i have an IDE harddrive around somewhere. what installation method should i use? or should i get a SATA drive right away and install everything on a sata drive? i was thinking of using vinc0rs DD method, i would just put the ide drive into a windows pc, copy the tiger-x86.tar.gz2 image on it (following the guide) and then put it into my new hackintosh-box. would everything work then? Â 2) you have to know that my windows pc i currently have (not my future hackintosh, but the pc i would have used to copy the image to the spare IDE drive) does not support SATA. Â 3) 10.4.3 is sufficient for me, but 10.4.5 would be cool too. how could i achieve a 10.4.5 install that works? maybe even on a sata drive, without much hassle? would it maybe be possible to take the IDE drive out of my existing windows pc and put it into my new hackintosh, and it will boot? because if that worked, i may get a SATA drive and use vinc0rs method, and copy stuff on the SATA from windows. Â 4) or: can you just tell me the easiest way to put 10.4.5 on my brand new box, preferrably on SATA - would be cool. Â 5) is RAID possible? Â thanks! jdxxx
1 Can anyone confirm that I can use asus DVI-ADD2 N with this mobo no - no drivers for OSX. To use, you need the drivers, which are available only for Win.  2 Can I connect 20" Apple Cinema Display to DVI-ADD2 card and boot properly.. no  3 Can I use SATA Raid0 with this mobo no. Read a little - no Raid in OSX. And this board does not offer RAID. Has ICH7 -- you need ICH7R for RAID. kernalzero
the orientation of the jacks is hardware based not software or OS based...the audio out is always audio out not matter if you run linux, osx or windows. If the jack works under windows you may want to check out the topics about getting the audio to work on this board http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=11758 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12690-asus-p5ld2-vm-the-perfect-motherboard/#findComment-88931 Share on other sites
declan
One word of warning about this board, if you want to use DDR2 667, make sure its listed in the manual, as it is a picky board and you might end up with the ram running at only 400 or 533 speeds.
