Glad I'm not out of my mind to dislike a new Apple product :( But doesn't even the iPod Touch original have some sort of speaker built into it? I mean where do the tap sounds that come when you are typing on the keyboard come from? And where does the beep beep sound of new incoming data come from? There is some sort of speaker there, and maybe someone will develop a hack to let the iPod use that speaker to play music or something...

Piezo buzzers sound like {censored} when you play music through them, though. Think PC Speaker vs. PC Soundcard

Yeah I just saw that the 2G touch has a Broadcom BCM4325 Bluetooth Chip that supports BT2.1+EDR.

but the new Firmware does not activate it.

That's because in the case of the iPod Touch, the BCM4325 chip isn't there for bluetooth, it acts as a transceiver for the Nike+ functions. I'm sure some enterprising programmer will come up with some sort of BT app for it though; although I wouldn't count on it showing up in the App store, it'll probably require a jailbroken iPod.

EDIT: The biggest thing that I don't really like about the new Touch is that they went ahead and made it even thinner. The 1st gen was almost bordering on too thin to begin with, I can't imagine a thinner device. There's a limit to how thin something can be before it becomes uncomfortable to hold.

Don't whine about the whiners! Constructive criticism drives innovation.

I assume Apple will bring out a 64gig model at the same time as they bring out a 64gig iPhone. If the iPhone didn't exist, you can be sure there would be higher capacity iTouches out there. I'm tempted to buy the 8gig model and upgrade the storeage when the warrenty has expired. How easy is it to open those things up? Does anyone know, is the storeage soldered to the mainboard or change out-able?
