lambsporriegetta
i'm using the myzar patched dvd's installed kernel, but wanted to try a kernel, prepped especially for my machine. using maxxuss' patches i patched the original kernel with all combinations, moved them to / and chowned (root:wheel) and chmodded (644) them. but none of them will boot! with some kernels, the system crashes with no eip code, with others it boots further but the system gives errors such as: Mar 15 22:42:58 localhost mDNSResponder: Couldn't read user-specified local hostname; using default “Macintosh-000000000000.local” instead Mar 15 22:42:58 localhost memberd[44]: dsFindDirNodes returned -14740, count = -1610603584 Mar 15 22:42:58 localhost memberd[44]: Couldn't find root user. lambsporriegetta
I have seen this error before in a topic by mickles...... http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=1995 the last reply by marcovth has this link to a win2osx topic where the same issues appear to have been discussed. http://www.win2osx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1120 (for what it's worth!) anyone know anything? 123steamn
This is exactly what I'm experiencing from the Myzar 10.4.5 DVD after applying a bare base Kernel. Loops forever and ever I tried many different patch combinations after successfully installing from the myzar DVD. A base patch on my intel cpu left me with a un-bootable system. What was successful was the base patch and the AMD enabler patch both applied to the same kernel. After that, then follow maxxuss' instructions for replacing the patched kernel. If you still have problems, I found that replacing the mach-kernel from the root level of the myzar DVD, to your corrupt system root level will boot it back up. This kernel has all patches applied, and you can repatch this one for testing. kaos Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12205-patching-kernels/#findComment-78591 Share on other sites
lambsporriegetta
strange as i checked with maxxus' utility to see what patches are applied to the myzar dvd kernel, and it shows that they were all applied except the amd patch. if i create the same kernel with the patches myself i can't boot my system, but the myzar dvd kernel works fine. Use the xbench scores as a guideline. More important to measure your system performance by personal experience. When running xbench 3 times in a row, each successive test gives me a lower score. If you want just the base-patch applied, their is a minor change you have to make to the "cpuid_patches.txt" file. kaos Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12205-patching-kernels/#findComment-79586 Share on other sites

lambsporriegetta
that makes sense, i wasn't aware the amd enabler was needed. it needs a better name like 'everything enabler'!!!
