bebbers
After trawling through these forums, I have come up with nothing. At the time of writing this, NEITHER shutdown sleep restart OR QE/CI work for me. Maybe I am just missing the point. System Profiler claims that my video adapter is: nVidia GeForce 8600 GT: Chipset Model: nVidia GeForce 8600 GT Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x0407 Revision ID: 0x00a1 ROM Revision: nVidia GeForce 8600 GT OpenGL Engine [EFI] Displays: Display: Resolution: 1440 x 900 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Software Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported QuartzGL: Supported Display Connector: Status: No display connected Any help on this would be spectacular, and I am offering a $25 reward paid to the first person to solve this. (Payment will be sent via Paypal, I will message you once your method has worked to arrange payment). If you think I'm scamming you then fair enough, I would be skeptical as well, but its 25 bucks for a few minutes of typing, so its a fair deal and you'd be a fool to miss out Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119281-getting-qeci-on-a-geforce-8600-gt-1054/ Share on other sites

At the time of writing this, NEITHER shutdown sleep restart OR QE/CI work for me. Maybe I am just missing the point. You have information that we don't like how you got to where you are with 10.5.4 & what your hardware is especially what the motherboard chipset is. Depending on the motherboard shutdown/sleep/restart may work out of the box or may require some tweaking. Check the HCL for your motherboard & report back. http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page The foolproof ways of getting an 8600GT working are either to use EFIstudio & create an EFI string (assuming you are using EFI as you haven't yet told us that piece of information) http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,64...64.html#msg1864 Alternatively use the latest johnnycarcinogen NVInject installer V.52 http://scottdangel.com/blog/?page_id=20 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119281-getting-qeci-on-a-geforce-8600-gt-1054/#findComment-844651 Share on other sites

westwaerts
if you have a motherboard with a nforce-chipset, you must edit the grafic card drivers.kexts ( nvhal50, nvresman, geforce) with the proper vendor&id to avoid interferences in the pci-matching ( &0ffffff endings must be deleted) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119281-getting-qeci-on-a-geforce-8600-gt-1054/#findComment-845461 Share on other sites

nigelbb
what information do you need? What I asked for in my post. What hardware you have especially the motherboard. How you have installed OS X (retail? kalyway? iATKOS? version? You have received plenty of good advice as to possible solutions. Why not try them? It will only take a few minutes of your time & then you can report back on what worked & how you are going to divvy up the $25:-) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119281-getting-qeci-on-a-geforce-8600-gt-1054/#findComment-845473 Share on other sites
dcrad
I am having the same problems, I have full res and dual monitor support, however now QE/CI, and sleep doesnt work, I also have what I think is called window tearing (artifacts on the screen whenever I move a window or some other such GUI change. I have my EFI string set in com.apple.Boot.plist, and I have also tried (at the same time) putting my device ID, in NVrasman, Geforce, NVhal50 kext's. I tried this process with 10.5.2, 10.5.4, 10.5.5 kexts. Can anyone help me out because its driving me mad for days trying to get it working properly. (I have an nForce motherboard btw (P5N32-e plus).
