SpamBadg3r
I have a Asus K8V SE Deluxe, with a AthlonXP 3400+ running 10.4.4 Most everything works but usb. In system profiler it sees my ports, but it does not identify any devices. I have disabled legacy support and messed with bios settings, but to no affect. Some suggest deleting AppleFPMemDriver.kext ... but i cant find that file ANYWHERE, any hints to its whereabouts. Thanks. SpamBadg3r
I have already looked there, thanks, i think its not even there. When i boot, i get the error message *roughly recited* AppleUSBsomething timed out 5 seconds, and that repeats many many times. Then i also when i start up i get the message AppleVIAATA.kext is invalid, please reinstall, it could be any of these things. Proteo
I thought I was the only one having this problem. Has anybody figured out a solution? It's really really annoying not to be able to use any USB port, mainly when the only way I have to move files between OS X and Windows is my pen drive. Do you guys think that copying an old set of USB kexts that were working just fine (10.4.1) would be helpful? Edit: I'm running 10.4.5 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11783-usb-woes/#findComment-81381 Share on other sites

thrunner
I think if you searched the forum, you would have found that VIA chipset has USB problems. Just stay away from them for OSX support. Now got all my USB ports working by using the 10.4.3 IOUSBFamily.kext. All my USB devices are recognised and "hotplugging" also works !!! FlashDrive, PalmTX, Digital Camera (iPhoto runs ok). Not working : HP Deskjet 5650. Recognised ok, but no print action..(Lost communication error) 10.4.3 Extensions on tpb !! :-P Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11783-usb-woes/#findComment-101290 Share on other sites
