vaporATX
I just noticed that there is a MobileMe icon in the control panel on my Vista gaming machine. Where the hell did that come from? I damn well didn't install it and have no need for it. Plus it doesn't really do anything but try to get you to buy MobileMe? Did Apple push this {censored} advertisement junkware through a Safari or iTunes update or something? I sincerely hope they give me a way to remove this unwanted ad for their overpriced service. Just because they renamed iDisk MoblieMe doesn't mean it's suddenly not ripoff {censored} that is bested by many free services. Idiots. ~pcwiz
I'm pretty sure you got it from Apple Software Update. The stinking thing tried to load Safari for Windows on Vista when all I wanted was an iTunes update Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/117078-where-the-hell-did-this-mobileme-icon-come-from/#findComment-829371 Share on other sites
vaporATX
I don't remember selecting anything from software update that said anything about MobileMe. I did recently update iTunes, so it must have been in there. Ticks me off. I just did a search on this and see lots of people are b*tching about it. What's strange is that my Macs didn't have a MobileMe pref pane installed without my permission. This is nothing more than blatant advertising. Shame on you Apple! :censored2: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/117078-where-the-hell-did-this-mobileme-icon-come-from/#findComment-829407 Share on other sites
(MoC)
I have it too, and I feel the same way. They try to shove their apps down you're throat like they did with Safari a couple of months ago. Numberzz
This is why I don't have iTunes, Safari, or anything else by Apple besides Boot Camp on my Windows Vista partition. If I want to listen to music, I either boot into OS X or listen to it on Last.fm. DA_SONG_MAN
Just uninstall Apple mobile support or something similar. I've been doing this ever since they came out with this compenent (being mobile support) for iTunes although some of us don't even own iPhones. A Nonny Moose
It happens when you update to the new iTunes version. It includes the MobileMe preference so Windows users don't cry about why "push (blah)" doesn't work. Was it a poor way to implement this? Yeah, because people don't like having little extras in Windows-land without knowing where it came from. There was probably a better way to do that... Daniel Felstead
They're gonna include it in their next Mac vs PC advert probably. "Unwanted icons? Not on a Mac." DA_SONG_MAN
They're gonna include it in their next Mac vs PC advert probably. "Unwanted icons? Not on a Mac." And they wonder why Microsoft users hate them. Like the Safari fiasco.
