firebush05
I'd buy one of these in a second if I could boot OSX with it. Can you just imagine.. dual booting origami tablet.. mmmmmmmm..... Anyone know what processor these will have? I know it'll be in the neighborhood of 900mhz. RAM? Storage space? Technobob
The Origami is nothing really new it's just a marketing ploy in a new package. These small computers have been around for a couple years in some form. This is a sweet little laptop that I think would run Mac just fine just wish the price tag was smaller. I can't see any reason that the just announced Samsung model wouldn't run Mac as long as it supports SSE2 it should. firebush05
get a life!!!! Right, ok. So back to the topic.. I think Celeron M's run SSE2/3, so if Origami is made using typical parts and runs BIOS it might just boot OSX! Having been a former owner of a 500mhz iMac running OSX, I assume 900mhz would easily run everyday internet browsing and email no problem. I would kill, KILL, for a small OSX capable tablet! firebush05
but thats different processer You mean G3 compared to an Celeron? I'm assuming that a 900mhz Celeron M would deliver at least the perfomance of what I'm used to with a 500mhz G3, even though they are two entirely different chips. Its just a guess. Does anyone know if Celeron M at 900mhz could pack enough punch to handle OSX86, assuming it can even run OSX? randomblame
lol I dont see it happening, at least not in the way you guys want it to. For these things to be "ultra portable" they will be relying on two different methods of input that will not work in mac os. The touch screen, and the side buttons. However they may be able to run mac os .... you'll just have to have a few usb devices plugged in for control wich sorta takes the fun out of it doesnt it? Also the specifications for these things are as follows: cpu: celeron m, pentium m, or via ram: 512mb minimum Weight: 2lbs maximum Screensize: max of 7inches Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11506-mac-origami/#findComment-72442 Share on other sites

Yes, keyboard and mouse would probably be required, but it might get the ball rolling once people see whats possible... Hey Apple, I want a handheld mac!! What would be perfect is a Newton form factor with a better/color screen, bluetooth, 80gig harddrive, and OSX at full speed. Sigh.. one day.. Ouch
The touch screen might work, macs have support for handwriting recognition via graphics tablets. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11506-mac-origami/#findComment-72551 Share on other sites
blinksilver
if wacom makes the tablet interface then you are in luck. People hack the wacom drivers in linux to support tablets. And guess who just released a unibin for their drivers : ) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11506-mac-origami/#findComment-72612 Share on other sites
