I have hirens 9.5 if that helps but the leo and vista are on separate drives. Click the dropdown arrow on the bootloader section to select it, if you select both it wont work right. As for booting from seperate hdd's I've never done it so im not the first to see if it works. If however you install vista and os x on the same hdd w/ different partitons youll be able to dual boot vista/mac w/ the mac bootloader XD. Good luck... Well if you have sound and dont need the kext just delete it, its located in /System/Library/Extensions. For reinstalling... Just put the zeph disc in the drive, load it, reformat the partition, and reinstall For the bootloader it depends what partition map you have. When your in the disk utility (in the zeph dvd or os x itself) click on the DRIVE (not partition the acutal drive), it will tell you MBR or GUID. I would recomend reinstalling to make sure you dont mess it up XD. Good luck PS: 99% of the time the drive is MBR. sidhu
Hey! I neer saw this thread and started another instead... MY computer specs are : AMD X2 4400 MSI K9N Neo mobo 2 Gig kingston Ram Asus Nvidia 7300GT Netgear Gigabit PCI card For this build, after many tries i got myself an IDE HDD, and dedicated it to an HFS partition. The standard computer config was 3 SATA HDD's and one IDE master DVD drve. During the install I disconnected all SATA drives (mostly to prevent any goofups nd data corruption), jumped the DVD drive to a slave and attached an IDE master HDD. Note that i will need to have the SATA drives (XP install) running also. Issues : 1) I cannot get the DVI and the VGA outs of the 7300GT to work simultaneously. I have been reading a long time over this, since i would suppose the 7300 GT to be a fairly standard card, but to no avail. If both outs are connected, OSX will not boot into the GUI. 2) My USB ports are behaving funny. On one of the rear ports, I have a hub attached, and all things attched to the hub (audio dongles, external midi controller) are being detected. However, when i try to connect a FAT32 flash drive, 4gb, it is not read. Could it be that these ports are not being read as USB2 ? 3) I am now going to read on how to get a dual boot going. 4) During first boot, after i connect the other SATA NTFS paritioned drives, I get them to show up in OSX. Subsequent boots do not detect them, and i eventually end up with popups stating that the drives failed to mount. Thanks a super ton to everyone! I should prolly get these issues sorted myself, but after so much reading, i can only think in mush as of now! Cheers! enigma_691
Today marks the day that I am finally happy with my installation; Everything working, extremely quick, and I'm a very happy camper. I've used these forums a lot in my adventure so I thought I'd start a thread to maybe help my fellow AMD mates. Below is my hardware/OS configuration (And a screenshot). If your system is very similar and have a question, go ahead and I'll do my best to help. (Let's please keep this to AMD users because let's be honest, Intel is for girls OS X Leopard 10.5.2 (9C31) Kernel: Darwin 9.2.0 MSI K9N SLI-Platinum AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ nVIDIA nForce 570 SLI chipset Realtek ALC883 Audio Geforce 7600GS 256MB DDR2/128 LG 20" Flatron W2052TQ 1680x1050@60Hz hi These are my specs: MSI K9N SLI Platinum AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard Leadtek PX8500 GT 256MB Extreme GeForce 8500 GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card Patriot Extreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory LITE-ON Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA DVD Burner with LightScribe AMD Athlon 64 FX62 Socket AM2 CPU Retail Boxed Ultra 600w X-Finity Power Supply w/2 80mm / Blue PLEXTOR PX-810A 18X SATA DVDRW Black Not sure what should be the order . I was able to install the leopard, but it doesnt show the nic card or the hard drives or sound card. Worst case scenario I could buy a dvd drive that is mac compatible, even though I'm not sure why it doesn't see it since I installled the OS with it. But I would like to know since we both have the same motherboard, how you got the integrated nic & audio cards to work? Please make explanation as simple as possible since I have no Mac experiance whatsoever & all the words like kext and soo on are confusing. I tried the kext you recommended, it saw it but then frooze, rebooted and when it came up again the trackball & keyboard werent working. I started from scratch, I had not used an option of drivers that the leopard cd had because it wouldnt allow the install if I selected it. But this time I noticed the arrow that expanded that option. It had selected chip set, audio, graphics and network, I disabled the chipset & graphics option and it allowed the install and installed with the nic card, but still no audio. The driver for the audio should have worked beacause the MSI website states that it uses Realtek ALC883 & the driver was ALC883. Although it now sees the nic card, I'm still not able to surf the net not sure how to configure it, tried but to no avail. Could it be that my modem (Westell Versalink model 327w) doesn't support MAC? I would really appreciate any help since I feel like I'm almost there, but if I cant get the nic card to work properly and the audio to work, it has all been for nothing, I really want to give final cut pro a try, but without a audio I wouldn't know if what I'm doing sounds right. So that leaves getting the nic card to work, I found online the manual for the Westell DSL modem< it has a section for macs, will try soon, a little drained, but hopefull. Caprica01
Just want to say that I have successfully installed OSx86 on 2 systems now using the Kalyway 10.5.2 distro. This is the only one that worked for me. I tried iPC, Leo4all, iAtikos, iDeneb, JaS and they all failed. The one thing I will note is that I had to change the raid mode on my onboard ATA devices to AHCI in the bios, otherwise the install would never get past the apple boot screen. It just wouldn't read my DVD drive in IDE mode. After I did that. Boom! No problems I installed using the speedstep kernel, and just chose the bare minimum of extras in customize. I didn't even choose a chipset, audio or graphics driver. I installed those after install from with in the OS itself. So the only issues I have had are 1) Having to have the raid mode set to AHCI to boot into Leopard. As I already had XP installed on the HD, I am unable to dual boot in AHCI mode. I have to go back into the bios and change the raid mode to IDE. Minor pain I know. 2) I can't get 7.1 audio. Only the standard 2 channel. Still looking into this. My system specs ============= AMD X25600+ MSI m/b w/SB700 chipset Asus Radeon 3650 256mb PCI-e 4gb DDR2 sATA DVD-RW sATA 1TB Hitachi HD sATA 320GB Hitachi HD TO Link Wireless PCI card. Usb Logitech keyboard Logitech Revolution mouse AMD/ATI all the way! No mixing and matching for me. lol Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114561-amd-leopard-1052-success-any-questions/page/2/#findComment-1099897 Share on other sites
