allencc3
Hello everyone. I am very new to the OS X x86 game. However I am far from stupid so I will understand any help anyone can give me. I have never ever in my life played around in OS X but I have always wanted to own a mac. First off, I already have it installed on my BFG 680i SLI board and have an Intel E6600. My 8800GT seems to be working fine BUT, I do get graphical glitches 20% of the time while switching through desktop backgrounds. My Quartz and other thing say it is working and I believe that I used NVinject off of Kalyway 10.5.2 dvd. I messed up when I installed and chose the sleepkernel ss3. I was wordering if someone could give me the exact code to switch kernels because I want to switch to the nforcekernel. Here is another but - I did download the Kalyway 10.5.3 update last night. I plan to update but I see peeps losing quartz after update on this forum. Everyone say to just install nvKush. I downloaded that also. So what I wanted to know is this, When I update to 10.5.3, will it allow me to remove old 9.2 sleepkernel and replace with 9.3 Nforcekernel? If so, one problem solved. If I might need info to replace old kernel with new nforce one. Lastly I would like to know if you guys are have graphic glitches using nvKush after update? I really need a step by step tut. on how to remove inject and install nvKush. Thanks in advance to those who help out. And please keep in mind, I have been reading through these forums for answers. I am a computer programmer but OS X is something I never touched. I already have all I need to get my onboard sound and Lan working. But I understand that my LAN will be unstable unless I use cpus=1. Some one please lead me down the path of Leopard. This should be simple for you pros and not too much to ask. Poco
To replace the kernel you could just get MacDrive and copy the new kernel in. This is expecting you have the kernel files: mach_kernel and mach_kernel.something iPoco Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112765-can-someone-share-some-knowledge-with-me/#findComment-798100 Share on other sites

allencc3
OK Ipoco. MacDrive is something that I don't need. I have access in leopard to my other drives plus my usb travel drive. I got kalyway combo update on my ntsf plus everything else. All I have to do is boot into OS X then copy em over. allencc3
OK thanks homie. I would like to ask another question which is: How come I can not install from my pioneer sata dvd burner? I always get waiting on root device. Everytime I mess up installation, I have to put my IDE back in just to install. Is there a workaround for this. I am just trying to get it right. My install just went bad because I kept getting install failed on kalyway 10.5.3 combo update and I dont know why. It would get to 96% and fail everytime. I tried from my original NTFS download spot and the copied one from my OS X desktop. but both failed then I tried to put usb that I had the file on and got a Kpanic. so it rebooted then guess what? My menu at top and my dock appeared then dissapeared. Now all I got is my wallpaper and my mouse pointer which works. but nothin in sight to click on. So back to square 1, clean install. I am re downloading update. BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO INSTALL FROM SATA DVD. Poco
Check around on this site for compatibility issues concerning sata dvd drives and your company. I think I may have heard something about sata but maybe not... iPoco Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112765-can-someone-share-some-knowledge-with-me/#findComment-798259 Share on other sites
Gujal
SATA DVD not working is a nforce chipset issue. SATA DVD Drive works fine with Intel ICH (7 through 9). I think there was some patch floating around, I may be wrong Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112765-can-someone-share-some-knowledge-with-me/#findComment-798305 Share on other sites
