I do some work from my pc connecting to OWA and some other programs that use ActiveX controls, this is limiting me from using MAC more because I need it. I've been looking and can't find anything. I downloaded IE 5.2 but, it was a piece of junk and didn't run the controls anyway. I do know M$ dropped IE support for the MAC.

Is there any, good working, IE replacment that supports ActiveX controls like IE does under Windows but, for the mac ?

Ugh, my only MAJOR flaw with MAC right now...please help me resolve it...

There is no browser on MacOS that support ActiveX controls. They are just windows binaries, distributed over the web. If you need them very much, install vmware fusion or parallels, windows xp and use windows ie.

Oh, well. I guess I can't use a mac for work, back to vista I go.... Doing a Vmware of XP is pointless in this case, I'd be better running OSX in Vmware under Vista...

I'll keep the dual boot going for a while but, it's worthless to me unless I can do work under it, with out the activex controls, I can't work...

Thanks anyway....

How so? If all you want is IE with ActiveX, how is having a full Vista install better?

Don't forget that with Unity, Windows apps work in OS X just like native OS X apps. There is no Windows desktop and you have interoperability between these apps and your OS X system.

I thought IE under Crossover Office supported ActiveX also. (but don't quote me :( )

Edit: Just checked Codeweaver site and it does:

With CrossOver 7 installed, Mac users can use Internet Explorer to access ActiveX web sites. Web sites that use ActiveX controls cannot be run from Mac web browsers.

Because I already am dual booting with Vista because of this case (other apps that I need/use that are only on PC, till I find a MAC replacement, I use the PC for them).

I never knew about Unity/Crossover Office, I'll look into this a little deeper, maybe it will work. All I need is to be able to use ActiveX controls in a browser, didn't think this was such a big deal and there was something that works.

Wonder why M$ killed support for IE under OSX....Hmmmm....

I use Crossover all the time. Infact I use Office 2007 much more than Office 2008. IE runs just perfect on Crossover. Its even better than Windows, i dont have to worry about spyware and virsuses
