via chipset? why on earth would you choose that? of course you will have those issues...

you were supposed to choose ichx ahci drivers (if your bios is set to ahci for sata ports-most likely u did or by default it is) or ichx no ahci (if you dont have ahci support which is unlikely)

what does the archive (patches) you downloaded says ? 1.1.3a or 1.1.4?

I used via chipset because the guide that I used for my initial install used via chipset files. So all I need to do is swap out via for the correct ahci files and it should work correctly? The version I have is 1.1.3a.

Hey, great tutorial only i'm a little confused as to what to select on the customize screen.

OS: Vista 32 bit + kalyway 10.5.2 - fresh install

MOBO: P5B-VM

CPU: Intel duo core 2.6Ghz (i believe)

RAM: 2x 1gb

HDD: 2x 75gb

Video: ATI Radeon x1950 512mb

Wireless: airlink 101 awll3026

Kernel: 9.2 sleep

Any help on what options to select would be greatly appreciated.

Need some help here. I've got Kalyway's 10.5.1 installed on a Toshiba Satellite a135-s4467, but this combo update (after reading the directions carefully) causes endless reboots for my Leopard install. Booting with -x does nothing. I don't know if i'm choosing the wrong options or what.

Help!

Hello folks! :)

Mysticus.... THANKS MAN!! I follow your instruction booting before install with "-v cps=1 maxmem=2048" and works PERFECT! :thumbsup_anim:

I've use the following....

update_10_5_5.jpg

Check my hard, in case that you have some similar or the same.

GOOD LUCK AMIGOS!! ;)

Roy

nlbailey: told u what you are supposed to do, it is up to you to follow what i say, or back off and dont waste my time...

bgmrk:

kernel: vanilla 9.5.0 with fix or 9.4.0 stagexnu

chipset: ichx ahci (if u can set sata ports to ahci mode, and jmicron disabled or run in ahci mode as well) else use ichx non ahci

audio: try restore or one of the settings that fits your model

network: restore first? not worked? try marvel...

video: ati 1950

system func: smbios: mac pro, (unselect acpi option if you selected vanilla kernel, else dont touch it)

should be ok...

roy: why do you choose via?

Hi Mysticus,

I don't know... maybe I have checked by accident, that can bother my system??

Cheers,

Roy

i dont think you need it at all... but should not bother you since you dont have via chipset...

i dont know what really causes dvd to stop responding, maybe it is not fully ahci compliant... maybe the port it is connected have problem... change the port to another one and test...

on gigabyte mobo (for example mine) some ports respond differently than the other ones... 0-1-2-3 ports has specific function to be able to backward compatible with pata standard... so it may be causing some issues with it...

Hi again,

It's possible to make show the correct information on the Audio in 'System profiler'? It show Audio (Build-in) as "No Built-in Audio"

Thanks in advance!

Quick question....can I do the upgrade to 10.5.5 over again? I chose the 9.5 Vanilla kernel with shutdown fix and now my system will not completly shutdown. (all fans lights etc... still running) I never had that issue before. If yes, which Kernel would be best (you think) for my system config.

Thanks!

hizzz,i have tried 5 times with the pre & post update i have the same problem :no keyboard ,no trackpad 2 times 1 time for 1 hour i saw the grey screen and 2 times PANIC! :-) it told me to hold down the power button....etc

my laptop is: hp dv6755el

with: core2duo t7500 2,20gh

code name merom

memory 3072

mainboard quanta 30d2

geforce 8400m gs

Tried different combinations, various of kexts, no results. I've the same problem with GA-G33-DS3R. Both mobos has ICH9R SouthBridge. Wchich ports are you using for drives?

Nobody noticed that issue yet?

I got a problem with the update, I follow all the instructions but it keeps restarting, i had try -s, -x but nothing...

My spec in my signature....

Please :unsure::unsure:

I had the same problem with my 88e8053 Lan when I tried upgrading to 10.5.5 and ended up reverting to 10.5.3. I couldn't find any kexts that made a difference. There's some discussion of this issue b/w mysticus and ljseinfeld starting with post #1149, but I don't think there's a solution yet.

I managed to get the network working with AppleYukon.kext (the old one from Tiger) instead of AppleYukon2.kext (from Leo). For some reason, AppleYukon2.kext did worked correctly with 10.5.2 and NOT with 10.5.5, so probably it's some dependency problem.

thanks,

newsman and victor gil both of you read this

if you are not afraid to try and learn new things... read the post#1 regarding brick free system preparation... if you do that, use following partition scheme...

25-25-50-25-25 (GB)(victor gil, use normal suggestions in the guide for partitioning) , (1-2-3 will be primary and 4-5-6 will be automatically secondary, 1 for main osx-journaled, 2 for linux-dos?, 3 for vista-dos, 4 for linux-dos? 5- for osx clone-journaled)

if you do the cloning right, you can test the things u want before applying them, so u ll know b4 hand the results, without bricking system...

do what i say above, and than make sure u understand how it works...

after that... u can try these settings (from 1.1.4 package)...

kernel: 9.5.0 vanilla with fix, or stagexnu

chipset: ichx ahci (if ahci supported by ur mobo) if not, use ichx non ahci

audio: restore

network: restore

video: intel gma 950-3100 laptop version (make sure u dont select desktop ones... 950 and 3100 has one laptop package, but both has different desktop package)

system func: smbios: macbook, (unselect acpi if u selected the vanilla kernel), ps2-keyb trackpad fix, that should be it...

thanks for the quick reply.

where do i get the 1.1.4 package

i am not afraid to brick my system all what i have to do is do a fresh install again, i love testing so i do not mind doing crazy stuff to get my system to work the way it should be.

thanks,

Hi again Mysticus *C,

Just an update,

I have tried a few customization combination regarding USB 2.0 fix and the PS2-battery meter-power management fix and found out that no matter how I update without the PS2-batt...fix I'll end up freeze in the grey apple screen, and when I take a close look during the update -v boot the a yellow error line siad something about applepowermanagemnt.kext not properly load, so I should have checked the PS2-batt...fix in the first place, sorry for the wrong info man...

But no matter how I install it, my keyboard and track pad still screwd, so I installed a virtual keyboard program and reintall kext from Blue-K and voila... the keyboard and the track pad working like charm....

Now my 10.5.5 working quite flawless (input sound and webcam still no go), thanks a bunch Mysticus*C

yah that a no go for me Mysticus C*

i used the steps you had on your last post

kernel: 9.5.0 vanilla with fix, or stagexnu

chipset: ichx ahci (if ahci supported by ur mobo) if not, use ichx non ahci

audio: restore

network: restore

video: intel gma 950-3100 laptop version (make sure u dont select desktop ones... 950 and 3100 has one laptop package, but both has different desktop package)

system func: smbios: macbook, (unselect acpi if u selected the vanilla kernel), ps2-keyb trackpad fix, that should be it...

but that give me the grey screen with the apple logo and every thing froze, and when i reboot with -x my trackpad and keyboard do not work. i did not try another way it was too late last night. now when i was trying to select the video patch all what i saw was gma900 2582 & gma900 2592, witch one is for my x3100 laptop.

i am really sorry because i am been a pain but i am still on very first steps in OSx86 world.

thanks,

which version of archieve you are using? latest is 1.1.4 (page 72,post 1424)

http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/3442/updatern7.png

check the pic above to see the options, in intel there is gma950 3100 option...

are you sure you are following the correct steps?? you have intel chipset, you should not be having freeze or gray screen unless you are not following the step by step guide!!!!!!!

Anyone? at least on the "can I reinstall this update and choose another kernel" question.

Thanks
