Cyman Posted August 24, 2005 Share Posted August 24, 2005 Hi everybody, I have a P4 3GHz system, on an ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe mainboard. The CPU is SSE2 (P4 3.0C) and therefore I installed the SSE3 -> SSE2 patch. I noticed that many people reported iTunes, MSN messenger and other programs to be stable. In fact, every time, I run these applications, they crash after a short time or at quitting. So I wonder what could be wrong on my system? Is anyone else experiencing these problems? BTW, I use the very latest patch, i.e. 0.41. I also get kernel panics from time to time, e.g. when disconnecting my K750i from the USB cable (I read about incompatibilities between Mac OS X and this cell phone, but that there was a work-around, a little soft, which I don't find now). Another event seeming to cause kernel panics on my system is the minimizing of windows into the dock. This happened quite regularly, although I'm not sure it's the minimizing which caused the kernel panic, but it seemed so. So, if anyone else experienced one of the mentioned problems, please tell me. rohde Posted August 24, 2005 Share Posted August 24, 2005 Now, I have not experienced any of these problems, and although I can't be sure, it's probably your chipsets that's not supported. Check the compatability list on the wiki 'cause if that's the case there's no reason for further hunting down a solution which at the moment doesn't exists. I guess I have to wait for new fixes, maybe these will solve the problems. urielka Posted August 25, 2005 Share Posted August 25, 2005 add to boot arguments debug=0x100 and post the kernel panic error here. when a kernel panic will happen you will see it on your screen(instead of that "screen of death" that says to you to reboot". also do you have a VIA chipset and a AC97 sound chip? EDIT: look if you have a AppleAC97Audio kext loaded(do it by invoking a kextstat in the terminal(Terminal.app under Applictions->Utils). I'm also running Maxxus's latest patch on an ASUS P4V800-X mainboard and had the same issues. Other people have reported this as well if you search the forum. I haven't noticed any problems yet after the original is back in place. Hey Cyman, I get this exact problem with my mobile too, on a Powerbook G4 1.5 Ghz running 10.4.2. It's a phone/Mac OS issue, not a phone/Mac OS x86 issue. I'd appreciate a link to the fix if you see one (for PPC & Intel OS X!) Cyman Posted August 27, 2005 Author Share Posted August 27, 2005 OK, concerning the crashing of several applications I guess I'll stick with it and wait until there's some new oah750d file, for it seems it is the cause of all the problems. Since there are so many different opinions and experiences related to the file, I think the best thing is to stay with the 0.41 file, maybe this is not the best solution in my case, anyway. @bob_nugget: After having done a bit of research I finally found the software and the link to it, I was talking about. So here it is: K750i Grabber This should make an end to the kernel panics when pulling off the USB cable from the phone. For what iSync concerns, it is compatible with the K750i with the 2.1 update from 11, July 2005. Hope this helps, I'll install it now.
