icedtrip
OK, so here is my setup to begin things. ASUS P5N-D Nforce 750i SLI Intel Core 2 Duo 3Ghz e8400 (Wolfdale) ASUS Nvidia 8800GTS 512 (G92) 2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2800 500GB Seagate SATA 200GB Maxtor IDE Here are my problems. I used the Leo4Allv3 DVD for installation and everything installed perfectly. I am running the following from Leo4All. ACPIPlatform - 1.1.0 AppleSMBIOS - DDR2800 Kernel - 9.2.2 binpatched kernel Chipset Drivers - NforceTest Audio - ALC883 Graphics Drivers - Nvidia kext and NVinject 0.2.1 512 Network Drivers - ForceDeth-V I froze upon booting due to the Graphics Drivers, so I removed them. I can now boot with no problem. Everything comes up, sound works, all harddrives are present, and it appears that the network card is recognized. The problem I am having is that although the network card appears to be seen, it is only self assigning an IP address. Also, since I had to remove the Nvidia kexts, all I can get is 1024x768 with no video card acceleration. I know that I am almost there, but the network and video card are pretty big items. I have researched alot in these forums and others and although I feel I am coming close, I feel so far away. I have found a thread on an 8800GT (G92), but it specifically addresses that the process will not work with an 8800GTS. I have found plenty of support for the P5N-E board, but it is different enough from the P5N-D that the solutions for it don't neccessarily work. Any ideas? Summera
I've got almost the same hardware setup as you! Thanks to you i've now succesfully installed OSX. Have you tried this? Nvidia Installer 3.0 Beta by Punk92 I still can't figure out how to get the LAN working... icedtrip
Time to put some more effort into this. I am determined to get this working. I have several different versions of Nvidia drivers and I am about to start pushing forward. I have a PCI network card I can give a whirl with, but I want video first. 1024x768 with a network connection does me no good. 1600x1200 with proper acceleration and no network is better. Tackle one thing at a time. Summera, what video card do you have exactly? I am running an ASUS 8800GTS with the G92 chipset. The device ID is 0600. I'll post my results. Any other help would be appreciated as well. icedtrip
AGH! I give up for the night. I am always freezing once the Login Manager starts. I have used all the kexts I can find in different variations, inputting in my device ID manually, as well as inputting the fact that my card is 512 in the NVinject.kext manually if neccessary as well, but nothing! Time to play some AoC to relax! Summera
I've got a XFX Nvidia Geforce 8800GT G92 512MB and the driver I posted earlier works perfect for me... Edit: I found out that Realtek-based pci ethernet work natively out of the box (Realtek 8139**) and i also found out my dad had like 3 of these cards just lying around so I grabbed the Realtek 8139C, popped it in and now i can get on the internet. icedtrip
I now have ethernet via an Intel based PCI NIC. Still no onboard as of now. So, I removed forcedeth thinking that it may be conflicting with the nVidia drivers for the 8800GTS, but no dice. I have read that the nForce based mobos can cause some conflicts with nVidia graphics cards due to the device and vendor ID's in 10.5. I have manually inputted my device ID in all kexts, but nothing. Still looking for a solution for graphics, but I can now at least due it on the Hackintosh itself. Progress is being made, but is certainly not useful in its current form. Panik
I'm on roughly the same board (also 750i). Works almost flawlessly except for LAN. Tried forcedeth and forcedeth-V kexts. Network recognizes ethernet and says it's connected, but no dns response. Any luck on your end? ASNNetworks
This is what you can do...go out and buy an PCI Ethernet card from Realtek with 8139 chipset (I think it was 8139, check it to be sure though) and pop that in your PC and connect via that Ethernet card and you'll have internet....They are very cheap, for like 8 Euro...By the way, I didn't come up with this idea, it's from Summera, as posted above;) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/106563-asus-p5n-d-750i-sli-and-asus-nvidia-8800gts-512-g92/#findComment-819055 Share on other sites
kenkenc
I have a P5N-D I can get the network card to work but only with single core otherwise kernel panics and crash. Also after a while on single core stops working.. so that was a pain. Stick with a external one.. As for video card.. I have a EVGA 8800 GTS... Kalaways drivers worked right away... never had issues. BTW do you guys ever get random crashes on you're system? I have a feeling the 750i chipset doesn't like OSX.. other then random crashes everything is good and works great Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/106563-asus-p5n-d-750i-sli-and-asus-nvidia-8800gts-512-g92/#findComment-819170 Share on other sites
ruslan120
I also have this mobo. Re-installing due to a mess up with graphics drivers and efi (attempted to use efi instead of nvinject for a nice 1920x1200 boot screen instead of a bloated apple). Plugged 2 GB back in for a total of 4GB; I have reasons to suspect that ALL of our woes are derived from the nforce ATA drivers; if someone writes these perfectly, we'll never suffer from random freezes again!
