    SSD vs. HDD

I, for one, respect your position. Instant seek times which manifest themselves in applications opening near instantly after booting. Nearly non-existent search times. These are all myths promulgated by Big Flash (to make a quick buck). Long live HDD.

    PowerHack G5 ;)

Very nice mod! Just out of curiosity, how did you mount the motherboard to the case itself?
  7. Anybody wanna sponsor me a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5? Project's at: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?...6579&page=4 Will make a fully documented video of the install and a "You made it possible t-shirt." Such an action will fully compliment the Powermac G5 Case, email "ardashev120101@gmail.com" if willing.
  8. Hey guys! I was having a couple of problems with dvi-hdmi scaling and the monitor's hdmi reading (it would show a big glaringly blue screen and flash until it found a signal) so I whipped up a dual socket DVI plate in one of the fan grills. I've updated my worklog and not double posting pics here because I'm being cheap and not re-paying for a photobucket pro account http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?...6579&page=4
  9. Never mind! I successfully installed iDeneb on an external sata drive, then unhid files on the kalyway disc and installed the sleep kernel and PS2 fix. It hangs at screen sharing though and usb is recognized every other boot. Additionally, I NEED to boot with -f every time in order for it to work. Using vista for now....
  10. Tried iDeneb, hangs at "SMBIOS...(something EFI after that)"
  11. Kalyway 10.5.2 doesn't even boot the darwin bootloader, leo4all 10.5.2 hangs at the same spot :/ I'll try installing retail os x 10.5.2 from my macbook pro onto an external hdd, adding the kexts, and then cloning the system :/
  12. I would learn how to build a pc on google or youtube. It is a very useful skill and almost always cheaper and more customizable than manufactured PCs. What would you prefer: buying a Core i7 system or a Core 2 Quad System? Above is a core i7 system without a case. A Core i7 system has the advantages of being much more speedier and very fast. A Core 2 Quad system is also superb, but not as fast as the Core i7. Core 2 Quad is cheaper and more affordable though. Here's a newegg wishlist for a Core 2 Quad system: Qty. In your case it is much more economically viable. Tutorials can be found everywhere On a side note I didn't include any hard disks considering you already have two. They might be louder and slower but hey, they work right? A ssd from OCZ tech. (30 GB) is around $130 right now, and it's an upgrade worthy of consideration. A ssd (solid state drive) has virtually no seek time (it finds files instantaneously), is considerably more powerful than hard disks (faster read and write), uses less power, and EMITS NO NOISE whatsoever. I would definitely RAID those two hard disks though.
  13. How much are you willing to spend? If you really want to preserve the mac look you'll need to mod the Powermac G5 case, which takes on average about ten hours and an additional sixty bucks or so, depending on what tools you need and how you mod it. I did mine like so: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=166579 Otherwise, you can order Core i7 parts for eight threads (it has four cores and a technology called Hyperthreading, which allows it to run like eight cores) on Newegg, or a cheaper quad core system. Reply with your budget and I'll tell you which option's better
  14. I was wondering if it would be possible to download with one connection and web surf with the other, or just combine the bandwidth of the tethered connection (over bluetooth) and the wifi connection. All of this is on a genuine, pre-october macbook pro running 10.5.7. Any help would be appreciated
