Super Mario
I will do anything to have a Mac. Make me an offer i can't refuse. I'm working at a university over the summer but don't have enough savings for a mac. same me from the clutches of boring windows pc's! I'm thinking of 2 ways to come up with enough money for this. my first way is to subsidize/allow advertisements to go on my pretty case of my macbook(pro) that i will buy from your donations. got a tech startup, or just want to spread word of your company/website to the masses of a private university? send me a donation through paypal, email me the logo or graphic, and i will have it professionally laser engraved or painted onto my screen lid. the other way would be to donate a Macintosh to me. I know some of you are much more fortunate than i am, and would be absolutely grateful if you extended your generosity my way. does anyone think this is a good idea, or is it just a lost cause? -Super Mario UPDATE: thanks for your input. i would like to buy any intel mac, and would be willing to give a combo of cash and my relatively new iPod touch(8GB, worth $300), a used iPod Nano(1st gen) and an assortment of old parts that i have laying around my room(a Palm Vx, Zire, Treo 600(very used but can be used for parts, has a brand new battery), and a La Fonera wireless router) a mac mini would be perfect! thanks! CZ*DarkLight
Well, I don't want to ruin your expectations, but my opinion is "no way dude". I think its pretty naive, I have seen many of those requests, and noone rly give something expensive free of charge to someone who request it on the internet - public, on some forum, or whatever. But maybe I will be pretty surprised Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/105295-poor-student-looking-for-decent-mac/#findComment-749434 Share on other sites

apowerr
Super Mario, this isn't going to work . My recommendation would be to build a hackintosh. If you need a laptop, try getting something cheaper than a Macbook that works on the HCL. aylamrin
Yeah, since you are in the forum, why don't you try to build a Hackintosh?... I mean you can select a model that is the most compatible, and then you would have all the help in the world here. And are you not getting any student discount? May I say that if you disclose your ceiling budget, then you can have optimum recommendations...
