I doesn't actually exist yet though - i think it's just a promo that will be based on hardware intel announced recently. Paul Otellini described hardware that would come in a mobile form factor like a tablet or that book sized thing that would be capable of running a fully fledged windows vista - but it won't be shipping until the end of the decade.

The main problem is that there intel doesn't have a processor that would run for a complete day on current battery technology - so either they have to reduce the power requirements of the CPU, or improve the batteries.

you can just about anything if you have a S**t load of money :) so hres to better batteries at a million a pop :) lol xD

I was reading earlier that Microsoft's set to release for information on the 9th. AP says that it will not be the iPod-killer, or handheld Xbox that most have been expecting, but rather, a specialized, low power device that will cater to common tasks such as photo-editing, internet, and especially gaming. Also heard various rumours that it may or may not run on a current version of Windows, contrary to the AP article. I won't believe anything until I hear an official statement. :)

Microsoft Working on Paperback-sized PC

so as it turns out the origami project is nothing more than the "UMPC" (ultra mobile pc) that intel has been talking about for the last few weeks, on top of this there is no truly impressive software accompanying these and i do not understand why microsoft would want to hype this up like they did. the release today wasnt microsoft hardware or anything. For more details check out engadget.

That's all I suspected it to be. Turns out the rumours are right. Like you said, nothing special about it at the moment. I was a little intrigued when I saw the breif video with Halo supposedly being played on it. But now that it's only running XP Tablet Edition, what's the big deal? It's really only a glorified Tablet, just smaller and with half the battery life. Still, it's a step in the right direction I guess. Not really a Tablet, yet not a PDA. Somewhere inbetween, but with the best of both worlds. :guitar:
