Zephyroth's AMD Software Update in Public Testing

This is a BETA so don't use it on your everyday partition.

Everyone who want to localize it in its native language is welcomed !

This app can do the following :

- Download updates.

- Modify updates (remove mach_kernel and critical extensions, modify GeForce.kext and NVDAResman, search and apply cpuids and decrypt encrypted files).

- Install updates.

I managed to update Leopard-10.5.1 to 10.5.2.

Many improvments need to be done before to integrate this app in a release.

- LeopardGraphicsUpdate does not install correctly as well as some others updates)

- Some kext like System.kext are not removed

- ...

If you want to test it make sure to create a spare partition with a test installation of Leopard !!!

PS: German people, don't laugh at me ... I've localized it with the translator widget ... :-)))))))

This (especially once finalized) is huge for AMD users, as patching CPUIDs with updates and not applying updates because of new kernels and system.kext's is a huge pain. As stated by Zephyroth, anyone interested should be wary of using this on their primary partition, as it is a beta.

Even though it's beta software, it makes updating much easier.

It failed on the last update, but if you act careful and backup your

kernel, windowserver and smbios manually, it will do the job just fine.

I had a few script errors, but the updates has all been downloaded

in a temp folder and patched correctly (except, like I mentioned, the

last update).

However, to work around the script errors, simply use the built-in

Apple Softwareupdater (after using Zephyroths), because it uses

the same patched files that Zephyroths Updater already downloaded

and patched ;)

This is about to become a really great tool! Many thanks for that :P

For any AMD OSx86 Machine.

The question has already been answered in this thread, though :-)

zephyroth did an update!!!

UPDATE :

- I've just managed to install LeopardGraphicsUpdate with my app (no present anymore in the list of available updates)

All goes well, system is stable after the installation of ALL updates. (On my system).

- Added detection of the description of the EPSON Printer Driver Update.

- The way the temporary created folder for downloads is detected has changed. I will put the new version on my InfiniteMac space this morning.

Left it for 2 hours, and nothing happened.

Try that, and let us know if you encounter any more problems.

I am using .3

I rebooted and the problem persists. I am using an Airport N router. Do I need to open any NAT ports???

I am not sure what you mean?

I am currently using version .3 (from this thread)

I have already rebooted and tried the download (still hangs @ 'Preparing Download')

What ports would I open on my router? By default, all outbound connections are enabled, but inbound connections must be specified. Any idea what port(s) the ASU uses? I do not need any port modification for the original 'Apple Software Update' that comes with Leo

I was able to fix the problem!!!

I deleted the files in '/Library/Updates'

And then re-launched the application!

Problem now, however, is ASU does not detect any CPUids to modify in the update (Time Machine/Airport) but it does on other PC's (notably zephyroth 's lol)
