Kettobase
I know some people have been wanting to change their shortname from Curtis to their own. Use the attached program, unzip then mount it, you don't have to install it. alex04
Why not just create a new account and give it admin privledges? Once the account is created you can login to it and then delete the original account. I did that on my original dd .img install and it worked fine. I've never had trouble with this program and shutting off the Mac.....PC. Was it shutting down before you used the Program? HBP
as a comment, if you use bovinity as the password(deadmoo's password, to unlock the users cpl you can add a new Admin, log in with that account and then delete Deadmoo's original account. system runs more stable that way. Blackice
its a nice idea, but for security reasons, its best to change your root password as soon as you install your mactel, and delete the deadmoo account and make your own. It's not even hard, you know... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1021-changing-your-shortname-curtis/#findComment-8039 Share on other sites

cyrana
Also, this lets you basically setup all your user accounts from scratch if you want... Boot into single user mode (-s), and then login as root and all that. mv /var/db/netinfo/local.nidb /var/db/netinfo/local.nidb.bad rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone reboot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1021-changing-your-shortname-curtis/#findComment-9220 Share on other sites
