Mahen,

Thanks for the guide!! Newbie here. I just downloaded Kalyway 10.5.2 Intel/AMD and installed it (without choosing the customized options as I have not stumbled upon your guide). Upon reboot I was stuck at the point where I was asked whether I would like to transfer information from a previous Mac install (upon selecting no, it goes back to the Welcome screen). Searched throughout the forum for the solution until I stumbled upon yours.

With your guide, it worked, Leopard's up and running, but of coz now I need to configure my network, sound etc.

Glad to be of assistance.

I successfully installed 10.5.2 in my pc and I'm happy with it right now. Thanks so much to developers. my rig is:

CPU: c2d e4300, vga: gigabyte 7600gt, mainboard: gigabyte 965p-ds3p f4 bios, memory: 2x1GB patriot, hdd: wd 320 Gb stat II and seagate 500 gb stat II,

Great job :) :)

It worked on my 5150c and I have sound too. The sound for mine using the AppleHDAPatcher and the sigmatel 9221 codec dump. The sound is coming out of the green jack in the rear, and the front works too, w/ the mic working too. I got the ethernet fixed by the kext mod. I'm running 10.5.2, updated from 10.5.1. Everything works but the Time Machine. Can anyone help me with fixing that?

Dell Dimension 5150c-standard build w/3gb of ddr2 memory and a 300gb sata hd.

You have to install the Time Machine Fix Patch that is included in the DVD.

hey there, I have tried times the Kaly 5.2, with various selections and partioning ways, I finished the setup, but it stopped at the grey apple screen, for years...

then your way "-s", it says "MAC framework successfully initialized, using 2621 buffer headers and 2621 cluster IO buffer headers", then the laptop is no more active, just dead there. my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 710m, any advice for this case? *.*

awesome guide! i managed to get the install working on a 5150 straight away without adjusting anything, just great..

only thing i can't get going yet is network connectivity or screen resolution above 1024x768

the network driver is the biggy at the moment, i haven't been able to get it working and don't quite understand the process seeing as it's just the internal stock standard built in port... any ideas would be tops..

:( Hey Newbie here im kinda stuck on the reboot loop stage you know the one when you finally get a successful installationand then reboot. Well after that it comes on has a countdown oh yea I took the Install Disk out already so it count from 5 to 1 load alittle bit (Ill get the of pic in a min) then BOOM it restarts and does it over and over again. please help I tried everything I also innstalled like 3 time in different ways.

Hi, I've been stuck on this issue for a good while... I've a Toshiba A200-1V0, I'm having an issue with both Lan and Wireless. I've followed tons of steps around the net

Wireless: Realtek_RTL8187B_MacOS10.4_Driver_1088_UI_1.5.0

edit RTL8187.kext/Contents/Info.plist and in the 8187B personality, add:

<key>IOKitDebug</key>

<integer>65535</integer>

You would add these two lines under:

<key>idVendor</key>

<integer>3034</integer>

Then do:

sudo kextunload RTL8187B.kext

sudo kextload RTL8187B.kext

didn't work

Lan

\System\Library\Extensions\IONetworkingFamily.kext\Contents\PlugIns\AppleYukon.kext\Contents\Info.plist

and edit it to include your ID (On linux, use 'lspci -nn' to display text and numeric ID of device), which should be structured like:

0x435311ab

And that did nothing...

Have you copied the AppleYukon.kext to /System/Library/Extensions/

Once you have dragged the file into /System/Library/Extensions/ you will need to Authenticate

with your administrative password. Once you have authenticated you will need to open a terminal

window & paste the following commands into the terminal:

sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleYukon.kext

[authenticate again]

sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleYukon.kext

sudo kextload -v /System/Library/Extensions/AppleYukon.kext [manually load kext]

When you have manualy loaded the kext Successfully you should get the following text or something similar.

Once the kext is successfully loaded clear the kext cache to do this copy and paste the following into a Terminal:

sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

[This forces the system to re-examine all of the drivers and rematch during the next boot cycle.]

Now Reboot.

did that and nothing.

I'm lost completly, please help me, lol

Also just a question my graphics card seems to work okay, but when i try to run a video, VLC crash's and quicktime just doesn't play anything and the screensaver moves very slowly

Am i into deep here, lol

I hope i don't have to go back to windows. I have the latest imac and just want to have leopard on the laptop, and now it runs superfast, just the three items i've an issue with.

If you need to know anything else please let me know, and thanks in advance and sorry for the very long message, lol

Thanks very much

Logan

Hello I installed 10.5.2 But in the First boot on the Welcome screen to chose a country. It keep loading and I can't press any thing( that round disk keep rolling )

SO what the problem ? I tried to search but no luck.. MY spec

Intel P4 3.0 HT / Gigabyte 945-DS3 / 1GB 800 / Nvidia 6200

hi, i tried this on a dell dimension 5150 also,

the installation was successful, and the bootloader was too

but after the intro, after the language and country settings etc, it gets to the 'do you already own a mac' screen (its something like that). i check the 'do not transfer my information now' and click continue. it freezes for a while, and after this while, it goes back to the intro video, and this just repeats itself.

ive seen some others with similar problems on some forums, but i havent found a post answering their problem yet. i would appreciate any help at all, thanks

Try this, it works...

8.) Run the installation. Wait until the computer reboots.

9.) As the computer is rebooting and you get to the Darwin bootloader, hit F8.

10.) Type the following code: (the stuff you actually type is in quotes)

- type "-s" and then press enter

- type "/sbin/fsck -fy" and then press enter

- type "/sbin/mount -uw /" and then press enter

- type "passwd root ##" and press enter

- you will know be prompted to put in your password twice. Do so and press enter.

- type "touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone and press enter

- type "exit" and press enter. you will now be booted into Leopard.

11.) Once at the login screen, type "root" for username and the password you set for the password. Congratulations. You are now in Leopard.

thanks for the reply

i did what you said, but after i type "/sbin/mount -uw /" it comes up with disk1s2 write protected, or something along those lines. then after that i try typing "passwd root ##" and it says "passwd: unknown command" (or something along those lines).

not sure what i should do.

Hi I got that too, first thing installing leopard make sure to go into disk utility and format the hdd in hfs, after install when your doing your bootup commands... put in 100% to the detail excluding the " ... "/sbin/mount -uw_/" so you want to be putting in /sbin/mount -uw / the underscore after -uw_ is a space so -uw / and enter it should work now.. let me know, cheers
