i_am...me
Has any body made one? I really like to be able to scroll from the trackpad. I installed iscroll with Pacifist and it didnt work. And same with FFscroll. Is anyone willing to make one work. People got it Synaptics trackpads in Ubuntu. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=82850
Vanilla
I second this request. I installed sidetrack. It cannot load the driver. Leo sees my trackpad as a mouse only. Compaq C714NR. The pad works great, but no scrolling. Ideas?
more or less
I believe both sidetrack and iscroll will only work on devices running under Apple ADB kext, which is Apple's version of serial on a PS2, mostly on PPC machines, not intel machines. i am me, which FFScroll did you try, the one phb hacked? I use a mouse so much, I haven't bothered with this, but its the next issue I'd like to tackle.

heXane
You should use Smart Scroll X. It allows you to set a key to tap then you can scroll with your trackpad. I think this works way better than the side scroll on Windows. Check it out-- http://www.marcmoini.com. Worked great on my synaptics. Use the beta version for 10.5. HeXane HP DV6626us Everything works Xcept onBoard Speakers.

That seems to be something that might have been corrected with this new beta, so I'll try this later and report back. If this works like u-control does in Panther, I'll be very happy. I sent the developer a request to enable scrolling with just the "fn" key, which is how u-control worked. If he does that, that will actually be better than a "working" scrollpad. more or less
First off, I wanted to say that the developer of SmartScrollX said he will be adding a single key trigger soon, which will be excellent! Also, fwiw, I used php's hacked FFscrollX for synaptics and was able to enable a form of scrolling, more like "finger rolling" really. After I play with it some more, I might post a thread about it. Right now its not stable enough, and I am having trouble getting the LaunchDaemon to, uh, launch.

derekreid
Hey folks, I've been looking for a way to scroll with my trackpad also. The best thing I could come up with is getting the sidescroll working if your trackpad has that on it. Two finger scrolling would be awesome, but I couldn't get it to work on my Synaptics trackpad. Anyway, if your trackpad has the scroll bar on the side, you can try this to get it to work. Just delete ApplePS2Trackpad.kext from /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext/Contents/PlugIns Back up the kext in case.
rschultz101
can't be as hard as an graphics driver,... second that, we need scroll function,... sidetrack, be cool,... maybe start emailing them... installed scrollx, don't seam to work ,

heXane
WOOT!!! Just enabled Side bar Scrolling on Hackintosh HP DV6626us 10.5.2+EFI I use a synaptics Touch pad I think V6.5 or V6.2 I used terminal to edit /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2.kext/Plugins/ApplePS2Trackpad.kext/info.plist I went to the line that say's <String>AppleSynapticsTouchpad</String> and Deleted the "Apple" And did the same for the last line in the paragraph<string>ApplePS2MouseDevice</string> I don't know if this will work for others but it worked magic for Me. This is what mine looks like: <key>Synaptics TouchPad</key> <dict> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>com.apple.driver.ApplePS2Trackpad</string> <key>IOClass</key> <string>SynapticsTouchPad</string> <key>IOProbeScore</key> <integer>5000</integer> <key>IOProviderClass</key> <string>PS2MouseDevice</string> </dict> Hope this Helps some people out. InsaneJester17
Though finding the correct list file was different for me, and mine said "PS2" instead of Synaptics, it worked like a charm for me on my ZD8000. Thank you so much!

derfing
I tried it on 10.5.1 and it did nothing Is it only for 10.5.2 or did I do something wrong. Do I need another software to enable the scrolling or will this hack enable it by default. Thank you.
heXane
what kind of trackpad do you have? Some system info would be nice too. HeXane
Geo Mandell
Worked just fine, here. HP DV8000T Synaptic Touchpad (not sure what version) Sidebar scrolling works perfectly, makes me wonder what other Hackintosh problems could be solved with just a few changes to a few lines of code :-P Thanks. -Geo
voltbrendan
I have an HP DV9000 and I simply just deleted the ApplePS2Trackpad.kext and then rebooted. Then my sidescroller was working along with the double tapping for the double click.
alpha2zulu00
That's because ApplePS2Mouse.kext will also work for trackpads. I did the same thing, and side scroll works.
Nico3d3
SmartScroll X is a great tool except that it won't work on non-cocoa app. I wanted to use it in Opera and I couldn't because Opera isn't cocoa based.
