Are they trying to generate an entire month's revenue with each visit to the site? A million ads. Go. Now.

If I was a customer, I would not be impressed. If I was the company owner, I would be embarrassed.

In this age, web sites are super important to companies. Investing in a well-designed page will result in a positive ROI.

Tell them to get professional help.

Wow...wow..wow...

That is a completely horrible site..just the truth. List of things wrong with it from top to bottom:

1) Takes WAY too long to load

2) All the page titles look like META description tags. e.g. The title of the main index page is "Atlanta security surveillance camera Atlanta" What kind of title is that? Your grandparents are getting mixed up between META tags and titles

3) The fonts in the main body are all different. The first two paragraphs have the same font and the third paragraph has a different font. Choose a standard font type and size for the site.

4) This is minor and not critical but: The buttons on the bottom "Contact Us, Site Map, etc." should not be buttons, just plain text links. And Contact Us should be at the top because it is important

5) Eliminate the huge white space in the middle of the page

6) Completely eliminate the keywords placed in the middle of the page. e.g.:

-fullline-shopping-dvr-kits-nanny-bullet-lenses-phones-hardware-tools-rentals-tracking-quickquote-contacts-resellerapp-support-shipping-restaurant-stores-daycare-boat-auto-novastar-videostar-specs-live-tu

7) Eliminate the TON of Google search results at the bottom. I don't think they are even ads, just search results from Google

And thats just to begin with. What I suggest is instead of fixing the existing site, just build it new out of scratch with professional help.

OMG.

Now I don't have to scroll down but the ton of search results is on the right side. dude223, just listen to the advice and TAKE THE STUFF OFF PERMANENTLY. Instead if trying to find new ways to hide the junk. I now see that they are not ads, but search results and keywords to increase search engine visibility. Use META tags and submission tools to increase search engine visibility if you want it that much.

I still say get professional help.

While I do appreciate all of your advice, I do not believe any of you so far have a true grasp of how search engines and crawlers work. First off, you need to realize that I am not running a web site for fun or gather crack information. I am not a novice at this and have many business associates that are in the web design business.

I have been into computers since the 80s programming in Basic. In 1990 I started building them. To date I have sold over a thousand PCs. I have worked for major corporations managing Linux, Unix SCO, Sun Solaris, Windows 3.1, 95, 98, XP, NT operating systems and now the suckie Vista.

Lets get to your comments.

1. “It took 42 seconds to load.”

You are right, 42 secs is way too long. I had just put all of the search results on the page a few days earlier to you comments. I had not had a chance to optimize it across all of my sites. Should be around 5 seconds now.

2. “The buttons on the bottom "Contact Us, Site Map, etc." should not be buttons, just plain text links.”

Each of my 5 web sites for 4MAX has over 300 pages each. To be able to make global changes to the main links I have employed java script. With this I can make one change and it changes all 300 pages. That’s why the buttons are there. And because java script can not be searched, we added the links elsewhere. Contact us is also at the top by the way. You would have noticed if you had actually looked around.

3. “Gave a 0, just because inimicus said, can't load the site. At least not in a proper way. + I don't see any designy in it, and I dislike the ads.”

First off, there are no ads on our sites. And you sound like a lemming “Gave a 0, just because inimicus said”

One day I sure all of you will understand that when in business, you need to decide what demographics you are trying to reach and build your website with that in mind. If I lived at my moms place like you guys playing video games and trying to figure out how to beat the system by talking about cracks and cheats all day, and the only traffic I needed on my web site was from links put into forum discussions. I would make one like ~PCWIXs web site. Looks cool, but it doesn’t come up on any searches. I tried all of his keywords, and then I tried the title to his page with his site coming up no where on the search page. The description found nothing. I even tried the name of his web site, “######”, surly that would bring it up one the first page. Nope, nowhere to be found. WOW, now that is impressive, he must be trying to not be seen! Oh, and where is the site map. Huge mistake. I am supposed to take advice from a person that doesn’t even know the importance of a sitemap?

I challenge you guys, Do a Google or Yahoo search for any type of video surveillance word like: cctv atlanta, digital cameras atlanta, digital video recorder atlanta, dvr atlanta, dvrx Atlanta and one of 4MAXs websites will come up on the first page in the top 5 listings. Humm, wonder why that is? I’ll tell you in a minute.

At 4MAX we sell high-end digital video surveillance equipment. Machines that record up to 64 simultaneous video and audio signals at 30 frames/sec at 720 horizontal lines of resolution. Some use RAID 5 on up to 24 - 1 Tb hard drives, 2Tb memory and quad processors. In other words, we sell to a select industry from small business to large corporations and casinos. Our systems run from $4,000.00 - $80,000.00 +.

And finally, all of those links and search results that are on the page. These are actual searches for keywords for my industry. All of the links you see are my competition. Crawlers love external links. When you search for my competition it also put my web site up on the first page as well. The 20,000 results add to the keyword density of my site. Very strong I might add.

Keyword density:

Digital 389

Atlanta 338

Video 291

Recorder 180

DVR 175

DVRX 169

Camera 168

Security 136

Kit 134

Surveillance 128

The density of my keywords drives our company up to the top of searches. Buy noon today we had 189 pages viewed on just one of my sites. Not from links in forums or paid advertising or even pay per click {censored}. All of these hits are from all of those links that you all can’t seem to figure grasp. More and more sites are using them. Here is just one web designer that is using them http://www.onlinewebsolutions.com/port.html . You might want to call him for help.

Thanks for your reply.

I appreciate your understanding for computers, but building PCs in the 90s and manging an OS isn't anything like designing web pages these days.

While your method of obtaining hits is effective, it's compromising the look and feel of your site. Honestly, it's reminiscent of the porno junk mail that I receive. It may not be your goal to have a good looking site, but it's true that customers are more likely to buy from an attractive web site.

I've been designing web pages for a decade -- I more than understand how crawlers index pages. There are other ways of getting similar results without filling the page with clutter.

But I'm not gonna waste my digital breath any more. It's apparant that you are satisfied with the way the pages looks and functions -- fine. But, considering the cost-per-unit of the equipment you sell, I would still recommend closing FrontPage 6 and hiring a web designer to help out.

Sorry, I might be bit harsh here but ARE YOU BLIND?

Do a Google search for "######" and my site is the first result that comes up!! Do you need me to post a screenshot up here?

As for a Sitemap, not every site has one these days and I might just decide to make one in a couple minutes. Its not a HUGE deal.

And all those "search engine visibility" keywords on your site? Look at any site these days and see if they put that garbage up...

Web design has changed over a couple decades, believe it or not

Why ask for advice if you aren't willing to even consider it...

:Do a Google search for "######" and my site is the first result that comes up!! Do you need me to post a screenshot up here?"

Sorry, when I tried it last night it didn't come up. It did this time. Im very proud of you. If someone is searching for "######", you will come up number one. Maybe they could just add the.com and avoid the search all together. To bad they have to know your websites name. No other search will get it. I'm not going to pull any punches here guys. ######.com may look decent, actually it looks like everyone else’s, but no one can find it that doesn’t already know its name. If you intend to dog me again pcwiz, please include some keywords that will pull your site up on the first page at the 1, 2 or 3 spot. Otherwise you are not worthy of this conversation.

Im sorry guys, all of this is so much {censored}. It is so easy for you to knock down someone else’s work and tell me to get professional help. I thought you guys were the professionals.

All of this is one of those "eye of the beholder" type things anyway. It certainly does not look terrible. This is the 6th design the website has gone through in the past 5 years, there will be more changes to come. Some will be better than others. But the bottom line is, I get hits, lots of hits, plenty of phone calls and sales all across the United States.

What good is a sites beauty if you can't find it? But I guess from a 15 year olds perspective, looks are everything, results don't matter.

Let’s see some websites guys, I have only seen ######.com so far from you guys, and it is invisible to the world, worthless from my viewpoint. Do any of you have websites that will come up better than mine on keyword searches?

If you don’t, then maybe I should be helping you.

My site comes up when you search for "pcwiz" or "mac os x vmware install" and keywords like that.

Please stop criticizing the sites of others and try to make yours better.

I am not offering any more advice since any advice given is blatantly refused
