Swad Posted November 29, 2005 Share Posted November 29, 2005 How many of you use Facebook? Be honest. It's HUGE at my university, and I think it's pretty dumb overall. It's decent, but people make it too much of a deal. For those who don't know, it's a social networking thing, a lot like if myspace, xanga, blogspot, flikr had a child. ...which would be odd. It's kind of addictive, but I know people who spend their whole lives on it! And, you start feeling bad when you don't have as many online friends as others. It is cool to keep up with people you haven't seen in a long time, but is it more fake since it's online? What do you think - is this the future of social networking? But I stood my ground and to date am facebook-free. If it's really killing too much time then I say ditch it. A) real friends are the people that you chill with and who get your back when you need it. Not numbers on a list. anything that swallows up that much time and gives you back that much nothing, justt isn't worth the opportunity cost. PPL regsiter and are like awesome, i met so many hot chicks etc etc. I am like great, i know a hot chick in real life. A chick who can hang out with me etc , whenever i want not just when she and me are online Neway how do u know if the pic they put on is their own or not. Plus as all of u said, OSX86project.org is waaaaaay cooler Maybe not cooler than SWAT 4..................I love shouting "POLICE!!! Get ur hands up NOW!!!" and throwing sting nades and {censored}. holden caulfield Posted March 18, 2006 Share Posted March 18, 2006 I don't think Facebook is the future of social networking- - but it is certainly training the "not-so-techy" college students how do basic things online. The one thing that seperates Facebook from other social networking sites is the fact that each university or college is sort of divided from the other ones... sure, you can list friends from other schools as friends, but since the majority of it is specific to your own school, you can really connect to people that are living in the same geographic area. I say this beacuse at my Uni the cops and the RA's and RD's will get a Facebook account and look at all the people drinking/smoking (you know what) pictures and then bust them. I have had plenty of friends that live on campus get busted by the cops or get a citation from the RA for drinking or smoking. That is why I have NO picutres up there!! Here at Penn State, alot of people have been given a citation for underage beacuse of facebook. Speaking of which, the drinking age should be lowered. I mean yeah they will get you for drinking but I have had plenty of friends get their room raided beacuse they had pictures of them smoking weed on facebook...
