Absolutely wrong. The terrorist you government trained and armed to fight their enemies some time ago are now against you. What indeed is becoming a global tragedy is the "war on terror" thing. You can't realize that some tight asses are increasing their fortunes with the war while you (the people) are who's giving the life? Not to mention the thousands of innocent people all around the world that has been kidnapped, tortured and murdered because of it.

What are you trying say, that we asked for it, we had it coming to us, we should have expected it. Thats all a bunch of {censored} and yes, 9/11 has affected the whole world to this day. Thousands of people have been kidnapped, tortured and murdered long before the war on terror, the war is just another excuse.

Why these attacks weren't against, let's say, Brazil or France? And why do you have the biggest "defense" budget on the planet? Do you really believe that {censored} speech about the rest of the world hating the USA just because of their freedom? Come on, I'm sure you guys are smarter than that. It's just physics, the Newton law: Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

However you're right about something dude. It's a bunch of {censored}. It's sad, perverse, and unforgivable that innocent people died just to fill the pockets of Halliburton and the seven sisters. But that's the logic of the war, isn't?

and yes, 9/11 has affected the whole world to this day.

Pretty much what I said in my previous post, and very different from your first sentence ("9/11 was a global tragedy").

Thousands of people have been kidnapped, tortured and murdered long before the war on terror, the war is just another excuse.

Absolutely agree, but still true that people have been kidnapped, tortured and murdered because of this war. BTW, who's excuse?

I'm American ;) I was born in Egypt though

Close enough...

Just that comment in it self shows how f'ed up some of you people are.

Suzuka, sorry bro. Seems even though you might have lived there since you were a 3 days old your still only partially accepted by some.

This is why i hate nationalism. It brings out the worst in everyone. And this is some very f'ed up stuff.

I can see how that was interpretted... WAY OFF BASE... (my fault of course)

Mentally, I was trying to convey the fact that anyone is/can be an "American;" birth anywhere in the world is "close enough" to USA soil to be considered an "American." I failed greatly.

My intentions were under no circumstances intentionally demeaning.

Seems it was a bad choice of words, which you accept and which I respect you for.

Also I agree with what you say completely. The place you are born in for a lot of people is not what they call home. I live in the UK but was not born here. My father already was a British citizen for 10 years before I was born and so it would have been easy for me to be born in the UK. I later came at the age of 2. I have no memory of anything before the age of 2. And so I feel British. I've grown up here, studied and made friends here. This is my home. My country. There's nothing more I can do to be more British except kiss the Queen's hand or join the army maybe (which I don't intend to do unless we get attacked).

That being said I would never follow my country to the brink of hell if it was steering in that directing. And this is why I never understand how people would blindly die for a country, any country. It's happened too many times as history has shown us (hitter and the Nazi) and it's happening again Iraq. I was not created to bash Americans. In fact when I come over Americans in the UK I find them quiet interesting. I also know that the majority of Americans are well mannered, peace-loving people. I just wish that you were able to do something about the corrupt governments that you elected, who when they decide on something there is no changing their minds. Also one that is fair when it comes to foreign policy. Not in favour of one side or the other. But fair. In this respect America has been messed up for so long now I don't know if it will ever be a fair country. But I do hope. Because when that happens I know a lot of problems will go away.

I just thought you were making a negative statement about situations such as these. You weren't and so I’m pleased.

...moreover I admire the US for their Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Nowhere else you can find such a freedom - yes, I said freedom. If you compare it with other countries you will come to this conclusion.

Next time you should do some research before saying things like that, here's the latest press freedom report:

http://www.rsf.org/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=554

With the United States slipping 20 places with the previous press freedom report!!! Yes 20.

I'm proud to live in one of 7 countries with the most press freedom, The Netherlands!

And the Freedom in the World report:

http://www.freedomhouse.org/template.cfm?page=275

Take a look a the score for the USA and for instance Norway, Sweden, Switserland, Netherlands etc.

Same thing here, not as free as you're saying!

Well... you could say that about National Socialism, LOTS of structure...

:(

well, its not exactly what america is: i would call it national hedonism :dev:

by the way: freedom and structure? the more the structure, the less the freedom and otherwise - think about it!

i dunno what you call freedom (maybe your regime has put something in your head ;-) ), but i dont need structure for that.

I guess what freedom really is, is what you can do, versus what you cant do. In a constitutional nation, freedom is extended equally to everyone. In a monarchy, for instance, the King has quite a bit of freedom, to do whatever he wants. So, what about america is free.

Americans have freedom of speech. No law may curtail speech, except where speech is, in and of itself, a threat to society or others. Saying "I wish President Bush would die" is perfectly acceptable. Saying "I mean to kill <aforementioned>" isnt. Yelling fire in a theater, etc and so forth.

Freedom of Religion. No law may curtail the freedom of religion, in that the religion violates no laws in an of itself. A religion that violates laws might be: "Circle of Child Molesting Friends", or "The Branch Davidians, We Stockpile Weapons And Have A Plan To Create Mayhem". No Religion, or lack of a religion, is represented in law.

Freedom of the Press. No law may curtail the press from reporting whatever they want. If you dont like it, sue them.

Freedom of Assembly. No law may curtail the right to assemble peaceably.

Freedom to Air Grievances. No law may curtail the right to air grievances against the government (by protesting or suing).

Freedom of Arms. No law may curtail the right to possess a firearm or a sword, or whatever. Except where such weapons are banned for good reason. Those who have had their civil rights taken away from them (Felons) may not possess firearms.

Freedom from Unlawful Searches and Seizures. No law may curtail the right to fair hearing in the search of or seizure of property or person.

Freedom of Trial by One's Peers. No law may curtail the right to trial before fellow non-felon citizens.\

Assuming government follows all of these laws universally, these freedoms are actually pretty open.

Recently, the US government (GW Bush) hasnt followed some of these laws as well as they might have. Thus decreasing our freedom score.

But seriously, if you have any freedoms you think the US should have too, say so!

American as a citizen of "United States of America" NO

American as a person who born in America the continent YES

People of USA never say it complete, so the word "OF" says it all, United States that are part of the American Continent, and America Alone refers to a Continent not just to a country.

Yep... Born and raised in NYC. I love this country. The politics I don't love... but no one is perfect.

It was founded by slave owners that believed all men are created equal :(

From our very first administration, we became the most oxymoronic nation to exist.

We are loved, envied, hated, and respected at the same time.

I hope our fate is better than Rome...

This is a great place to live.

Our leaders are among the best liars in the world, and they are full of $h!t... but at least they're not dictators, and our poorest people live in way better conditions than they do in other countries.
