Hi guys

I am currently facing some problems here

I got a tower with:

  • MSI Z170A SLI PLUS board
  • G.Skill 32GB DDR4 Memory
  • Intel i5 6500 Overclocked to 4.51GHz
  • Gainward GTX 1060 6GB

Here is the BIOS files I am using

Windows are working extremely fine here, stable temperature, no thermal throttling

Ubuntu also works after disabing c-state in grub using

intel_idle.max_cstate=0

I cannot seems to get macOS 10.12 working with the overclocked chip, macOS works complete fine without overclock

The symptoms are the same if I didn’t add the boot argument in Linux, no USB, No hard drive, no signal output from monitor, no nothing

The question is:

How do I disable C State complete while CLOVER executing the EFI file?

seems it's a Darwin/Unix/Linux Kernel limitation.

Thanks a lot :)

Update: Solved, see post #10

add is last line

sudo ~/ssdtPRGen.sh -turbo 4510

4.51GHz ;)

Hi mate, I finally got through the problem while booting the EFI file.

The keyboard lights on and the system continue to boot, but I got another problem.

VM Swap Subsystem is On

I leave all the other options including virtualization setting untouched, and reset the overclock, and it got over, very interesting.

I think Intel just doesn't like us to overclock the chips that wasn't "designed" to be overclocked.

What do you reckon the solution is for this one?

Thanks  :D

  • 4 weeks later...

So guys I figured it out

Simply add

cpuidle=0

and

idlehalt=0

in the boot args, please add those 2 args, it won't work with only one although they might share similar function

Thanks
