for sub system i think the good refrence is device manger in windows .as you mentioned the suys of my system is 3628 but rom dump show 3629 .i think for arteck also he must get his sub system from window device manager .bios dump has problem here

yeah... was just checking if you really had it under control ;)
Well, i added what Arteck posted; i only checked the rom some hours ago.
I've been giving to much importance to the subsys id/ven; on the booter, it's mainly a way to sort cards;
it doesn't have any effect on the subsys id/ven used by the system.

Just thought I would mention something I used when following this tut. If you aren't good with terminal and thus have no clue how to get a bios dump, this site hxxp://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/ has bios dumps for most cards that you can run radeon_bios_decode against to get your connectorinfo.

Hi guys,

Quick question:
I have a Legacy Machine (Pentium D 3.4GHz) running 10.6.8 with original 10.6.8 ATI Extensions (all of them) ... QE/CI running smoothly, GraphicsEnabler=Yes, AnVAL 5.1.4 loader, and PCIe Sapphire Radeon HD4650 1GB DDR2 Ultimate ..... how does that Custom Personalities thingie work in 10.6.8? No matter what I enter at the bootloader, I always get ATY,ATY, RadeonFramebuffer as personality ... as of Kabyl or Chameleon, Chimera etc. they refuse to boot with GraphicsEnabler=yes and return to me just a black screen :) Any ideas or maybe links to posts covering my particular circumstances?

Many Thanks in Advance,

Pete

Hi,

I've got a Dell Studio 1749 with a Mobility Radeon HD 5650 and I just can't get the LVDS (internal screen) working. HDMI is working well with QE/CI and all resolutions I need, just no audio. VGA not tested.

I think I just have to patch the framebuffer in the ATI5000Controller.kext but I just can't get it going. I tried every framebuffer there is and nearly everytime I get the same result: Black screen with no backlight on my internal and a working HDMI port. Maybe someone could be so nice to give me the final hint?

Here are some further informations:

The IOReg with framebuffer "Hoolock" and connected HDMI:

Many people said that "Hoolock" is working for them with the 5650M so I guess it is best to try patching on it's base:
Personality: HoolockConnectorInfo count in decimal: 3Disk offset in decimal 1672160000000 00040000040600000001000021030501 0000010 00040000040600000001000011020402 0000020 04000000140200000001000002040103

So what can I do to get it working?

Hi,
I'm struggling with getting HD 4530 to run on 10.6.8 latest ##### and ##### and a bit puzzled about the new structure of personalities in ATI4600Controller.

If I search for Shrike string from Birds-FB:
02 00 00 00 40 00 00 00 09 01 00 00 12 00 00 07

I found the string four times at 21f20, 21f60, 7a680, 7a6e0.

If I run ati_personality -a it finds other personalities that do not look right:
Kext ATI4600ControllerPersonality: FlickerConnectorInfo count in decimal: 3Disk offset in decimal 3285200000000 24 08 70 59 02 00 c7 44 24 04 8e 47 02 00 c7 040000010 24 70 57 02 00 e8 d6 ff ff ff c7 05 70 57 02 000000020 d0 f6 01 00 83 c4 18 5d c3 55 89 e5 83 ec 08 c70000030Personality: GliffConnectorInfo count in decimal: 3Disk offset in decimal 3285200000000 24 08 70 59 02 00 c7 44 24 04 8e 47 02 00 c7 040000010 24 70 57 02 00 e8 d6 ff ff ff c7 05 70 57 02 000000020 d0 f6 01 00 83 c4 18 5d c3 55 89 e5 83 ec 08 c70000030Personality: ShrikeConnectorInfo count in decimal: 3Disk offset in decimal 3285200000000 24 08 70 59 02 00 c7 44 24 04 8e 47 02 00 c7 040000010 24 70 57 02 00 e8 d6 ff ff ff c7 05 70 57 02 000000020 d0 f6 01 00 83 c4 18 5d c3 55 89 e5 83 ec 08 c70000030
and I can not find any of the string in ATI4600Controller bei doing hex search.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

The problem is ATY_Init.kext just doesn't work. I use it and then no ATI kext loaded, no QE/CI.
In verbose mode I find something like this:

ATY_Init: Starting
ATY_Init: Card 0x9553 was posted
ATY_Init: quiting for card 0x9553

I guess it doesn't regconize my card, even though I change the key ATY, DeviceID to 5395 or 9553 or just don't change. My card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570.

Could you please modify and upload the kext for me? In case I did it wrong.
Thanks

I have a problem with my card. It's a Mobility HD4650 in an HP Pavilion DV7-2160eg laptop

I have inserted the dual-link patch in dsdt and patched Shrike to: 02 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 09 01 00 00 12 02 00 07

I'm running OS X 10.6.8 with legacy kernel.

Even though card gets recognized correctly and the dual-link patch is in place I still get blacklit screen on LVDS

I have Sony VAIO EB (1366x768) with HD5650m. Installed 10.7.1.
If I am using AtiConfig=Eulemur internal monitor working (EDID + change res. first time by VNC). But HDMI doesn't work.
If booting without AtiConfig (RadeonFramebuffer), HDMI working, but internal monitor not.

Default Eulemur:

Maybe you should use Hoolock instead of Eulemur ?

With Hoolock internal display working. HDMI not working.
Try to change Hoolock?
Default:
00 04 00 00 04 06 00 00 00 01 00 00 21 03 05 01

	04 00 00 00 14 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 02 04 01 03 (LVDS)
For LVDS Transmitter 02, which means UNIPHY2:DUALLINK?
But in radeon_bios_decoder internal display UNIPHY.
Why does it work? For Eulemur same (UNIPHY1:DUALLINK).
Maybe bios decoder wrong? And I get wrong HDMI transmitter/encoder?
I try to change Eulemur:
0400 0000 1400 0000 0001 0000 1002 0104 (LVDS UNIPHY+DUAL_LINK)
0008 0000 0002 0000 0071 0000 2105 0405 (HDMI UNIPHY+LINKB)
1000 0000 1000 0000 0000 0000 0010 0001
But HDMI not working (only detected in System Preferences). Interanal monitor working.
Strange thing: If I change HotplugID for LVDC to 00, I get corrupted internal screen.

Modify Uakari for better results. and for HDMI audio you need DSDT fix i think, well im pretty sure. only thing with 5650m's is that if you force your LED EDID then whatever you connect will also be forced using that Display717 file. Unless i think you force all EDID that you connect to the mac.

***Update***
Removed my forced EDID Display717 file to isolate further issues, just for short testing while I patch connection info, I edited Uakari and can successfully get LVDS to switch on without others. More testing in process.

I'm pretty sure 5650m cards are reading inside MacOSX from 2nd port and not first port like Apple's working, I can get LVDS to power up now, just it all depends on using the right control flags from what I've been observing.

this is from my ati 5870m bios, internal laptop screen not working, and I use nomasus as I see in the ioregistry.
can anyone tell me what is wrong with the LVDS?
I cannot find which ports are matched correctly and which are not. The Laptop only works with external monitor through HDMI output and internal screen recognized by system profiler but when I press detect displays, only the backlight turns on and stays black. I have also made the EDID override but still nothing.
Can anyone help me please?
