Im trying it but i cant.

My PC: AMD Athlon X2, 3GB RAM, ATI HD5450 on PCIex.

I installed SnowLeopard Retail with EFI Empire.

I have chocolate kernel & Chameleon RC5.

I do all steps (install hd500, copy rom, kexts, 10.6.4 update, graphics update...).

After install graphics update, reboot -v shows "Device in slot: SLOT-1" but osx doesnt load.

hi white_apple_x86,
i done at step 5, updated to 10.6.4, but after reboot
- computer boot at chameleon : is ok
- when i chose boo MAC SNOW, it seem working, but the start up login screen like a "white tearing screen", i cannot loggin
do u have any idea to help me?

if not, is it the other way to get Snow back without  reinstall everythings

Reinstall Atiframbuffer and aty_init.kext,AtiFb=Hoolock,try download ati5000injector.kext put in extra

try -x to safe mode,remove ati5000controler.kext,atix3000 if it is there

Waring Backup Your Data

1.Install ATI Chameleon bootloader for Radeon HD5000
2.The ROM image under /Extra should be named <vendorid>_<deviceid>.rom(ATI 5450 is 1002_68f9.rom)
3.Install Atiframebuffer.kext and ATY_init.kext(ATI5000Controller don’t need)
4.Edit com.apple.boot.plist

ATI 5450 tested Fb working on Uakari,Vervet,Hoolock and other untested.Recommend Hoolock.

5.Install update 10.6.4 reboot and install graphic update 1.0 (if you get kernel panic after installed graphic update 1.0,try boot –x to safe mode and remove all ATIRadeonX3000.kext,I use hfs+ for windows to remove it )(the graphic update 1.0 only for 10.6.4)
6.Open OSX86Tool repair permissons.
7.Install Update 10.6.6 will add ATIRadeonX3000.kext,ATI5000Controller.kext

After reboot will it work,you need to do step by step,If you get any error tell me.

Apply For All ATI 5000 Series,you need to make own rom and other frambuffer.

hi white_apple_x86, i have not read carefully your condition when apply your guide, sorry my noob question here: i dont understand about "only for kernel Vanilla", this kernell how to identify in my OS , in my com.apple.boot.plist i found line say " mach kernel" is that enough to apply your guide ?

hi - first thanks for this tutorial!

i did the full tutorial - but iam still struggling with some issues.

the system profiler shows me under pci-card a 5500 serie instead of my 5450. the atifb is always Uakari instead of my custom setting like hoolock.

i cant change my screen solution to full hd - is shows me 1600*1200 instead 19200*1200.

when boot -v aty_init card 68f9 was not posted.


what iam doing wrong?

Atiframebuffer.kext and ATY_init.kext : u can using kext helper to install these file OR just copy these file to S/L/extentions, and then run kext utility to apply. kext helper and kext utility you can download at kexts.com
1002_68f9.rom: is correct your graphic card now, no need to change file name, just copy to extra

Hello,

I have problems with booting after installing the graphics update. It boot to the grey apple screen with that rotating circle. I let it do for 30 minutes but it stays at that screen. I have also removed the atiradeonx3000.kext under windows but that didn't help. I have a dell inspiron with a core i5 and the ati radeon hd 5450. Under windows i use the drivers for the desktop version. So will it work under mac os x to?

the 1002_68f9.rom sems not to work with my spahhire 5450. it makes no difference if i put the files in the extra folder. the profiler shows me always 5500 serie instead of the 5450 and not the right screen solution. also i cant change the solution.

you must boot -v to see the log. maybe you have kernel-crash. it is important to deleteatixradeon3000.kext and the ati5000.kext otherwise you cant boot.

my solution was to install a secend version of mac osx to delete the files.

but the graphic card dont work properbly greeting from germany

What about the file ATI5000Injector installed in root/EXTRA/EXTENSIONS by chameleon_hd5000.pkg?

Is it needed or must be deleted?

i didnt modify my kernel on iAtkos s3 v2 snow leopard, it included 10.6.3, i freshly installed without any drivers
1.i installed the boot loader from your all-in-one zip
2.how do u make you're own ROM? do u just like rename it? mines ID is 68d9 (not (68f9)
3.I install both kexts using kextbeast. (is this okay?)
4. Do I have to copy and replace everything from the one you have? (com.apple.boot.plist)
  -during #4 i removed ATI x3000.kext and i got the Uakari Fb <---how do u install this?
5. installed 10.6.4 combo.. restarted and downloaded SL graphics update 1.0 (graphics update was successful, but when i rebooted i get a unending apple boot logo screen..

How do i fix this???/ plz white_apple_x86 and other people thanks..

oh, lol, i kind of feeling fool, i could check for myself 2 month back to see if this card will work and was too lazy at that time, i bought a geforce 220GT for my system and now i have a 5450 sitting on my drawer collecting dust where it could work

I was able to get everything working, but after I updated to 10.6.6, I get the endless loading screen or a kernel panic at the apple logo. Any one have any ideas? lol I was sooo close, CI/QE was the only thing not working.

Iatkos is not vanilla kernel,this topic only for mac os x retail(vanilla kernel),i tried with iatkos v7 and such error you can download kernel vanilla or try remove ati5000controler.kext and boot with -f -v

Well i got some news.

I do this:
- install retail with empire efi
- install chameleon rc5 & chocolate kernel & atiata kext
- update to 10.6.6 & install usb kexts
- install all your files (rom, hd500, kexts... update boot.plist)

After this, i boot and i got a kernel panic: "Unable to find driver for this platform ACPI"

Only can i load OSX with Empire EFI CD. If i boot with this, i can load it, and my ATI HD5450 works perfectly with QE/CI.

What can i do???

maybe i have installed the wrong dsdt. i use multibeast? can somebody give me a tipp which kext must be on the system? i will make a new installtion and try it again. wish me some luck.
