Hey Pepto, thanks for the fast reply. Sadly this did not work for me. When I try and do the "write to" in efistudio it gives me an error. So what I did was I just copied it straight from the window, which was

<key>PciRoot(0x4)/Pci(0x1c,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)</key>
		<dict>
		<key>built-in</key>
		<string>0x01</string>
		</dict>

and i pasted it in my com.apple.boot.plist, then I did the rest of your steps, but still get teh same error. Thanks

Did you have admin rights !!! and the string you copied is not the right one, mine string is
<key>device-properties</key>

wich has made efi string maybe you can use it to if you have a GX520 paste it in the plist what i have posted
And remove the string you have added that is not the right one.

Hey Hey...what do ya know! it works. I went back to efistudio and copied the hex string and pasted it in the plist.

okay I have followed the guide right and booted -v
it hangs up on
ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin: :Start - waitForService(resourceMatching(AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement ) timed out

Got a 100% working gx620... Pentium D 2.8ghz 2 gig RAM, retail Snow Leopard, iBoot legacy, got audio, video and ethernet working from "gx520 kexts etc" zip posted on this forum. Other kexts didn't seem to work.

The ethernet address I got by running Ubuntu from a USB stick... then running a boot script that fiddles with the gubbins every time it restarts and makes the ethernet work.

Now using a micro USB to boot (used anval and iboot legacy to create it).

Running Logic very well. Very stable, no crashes or other wierdness. Total cost was £69(Dell) + £5(USB) plus retail Snow Leopard.

Thanks for the guide! I did everything you said in the guide, but I couldn't get my Dell GX620 (Pentium 4 HT 2.80GHz) to boot from USB stick. When attempting to boot from USB stick, it says: "Selected boot device not available - Strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility.". How could I fix this?

Edit: Okay, my computer doesn't like the GUID partition table very much. So I made a MBR partition of my USB stick, restored the Snow Leopard install and restarted it. It actually works, but now I get kernel panic. I'll post a picture the kernel panic later. I've uploaded the picture of the kernel panic.

I have a dell GX620 Pentium D 2.8 I followed the entire guide using a dumb drive and a external hard drive but the computer won't go to the install screen, the boot loader show up but when go to installation restarts the computer.
Any advice?

Just wanted to drop a line in here and let everybody know I'm working on a new guide, that will allow you to install retail.

When I first obtained this computer, I looked for an OS X guide, due to being fairly new to the Hackintosh game (outside of Netbooks, anyway), and found this guide, and didn't care for it's install method.  I'm now sitting on 10.6.8 and am writing a new guide to install from a USB stick with a retail image on it, and I'll have all the latest patches and updates that have been posted in the thread in one neat package.  Only setback I've had, is I can't get the stock kernel to work, but it's not like that stops me from running OS X, so look for it in the next few weeks.

No, 10.7 requires a 64-bit processor which you do not have

I am experiencing some problems with my onboard audio in 64 bit mode.  I have used Dellmantt's build with all the provided kexts and have consistently ran into kernel panics whenever a sound is played or I adjust the volume in 64-bit.  I can verify that the problem is with the onboard audio since the rest of the system works fine when I disable the onboard audio in the BIOS.  I am using the AppleAC97Audio.kext that is provided in this thread and it works fine if I use 'arch=i386' so I am assuming it is not a hardware issue.  My setup is as follows:

Dell Optiplex GX620
BIOS Version A11
Pentium D CPU 3.0 GHz
4GB 400MHz DDR2 RAM
80GB SATA HDD
ZOTAC NVIDIA 8400GS 1GB Video Card (VGA/DVI/HDMI) - (modded NVDANV50Hal.kext)
Netgear WPN311 Wireless Card (AtherosFix.kext, IO80211Familly.kext)
Snow Leopard 10.6.8 (nawcom legacy kernel)

My issue there is that FCP X doesn't seem to like the i386 architecture and won't launch, otherwise I wouldn't be asking for assistance.  I couldn't find any information on if it was possible to launch FCP X in i386 mode either.  I'm up for either solution if possible.

If anyone else has experienced this or has any suggestions to try, it would be greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to update, major delay, external HDD case died, lost 2 TB of data as a result.  Drive is fine, now using it as internal, starting from scratch. (This will actually help in the long run methinks)

I figured it out.  I have no idea how I missed this in the last month.  Instead of using arch=x86_64, I added -v arch=i386 -force64 to the /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist file and everything works.

Not quite

There is a way of doing it.

OS X Lion can run on 32bit because OS X has a built in compatibility box for legacy apps/kernel for: (photoshop 32-bit).

The only problem is that you need to *FOOL* the lion installer to install, then remove the CPU restrictions on the lion.
