Since the Unibin of Shapeshifter came out, it is now possible to use PPC and Intel themes on OSX(x86)! Share your themes here, and please post a link to where you found it, if possible. Go!

Here's how my desktop looks after I used shapeshifter:

I'm aiming for a Jaguar look. The theme I'm using doesn't seem to change the Apple icon in the Finder to the glossy 10.3 one. I'm also trying to remove the spotlight icon, or even disable it completely to increase speed.

Any tips or links to better themes for a 10.3 or 10.2 style?

Here's one for thoes of us that want ours to look like Jaguar. It's called Janther and it's the first theme on this list.

Here's my MacBook with ShapeShifter...

I liked it so much, I had to upload another. It's supposed to look like Jaguar. The Dashboard and the iLife icons kind of ruin it though.

okay folks, a few important observations:

1) The icon sets that ShapeShifter uses are CandyBar icon sets. So do a search on the web for them and once downloaded, you need but open your System Prefs ShapeShifter Panel, select Icon Sets from the Apply tab, and then press the + button to browse to your CandyBar icon set.

2) The best place to find these sets that I could find was www.iconfactory.com, but the site is down. So I used our friend google to find an alternate link into the iconfactory website. Try this: http://www.iconfactory.com/ware.asp

3) This is my desktop :D

Is that the Pinstripes OS X 10.0 skin, or another Jaguar theme? If it's something that hasn't been posted yet, could you provide a link to the theme? Thanks!

That's just the 10.0 skin. I just helped it out a bit by changing the Finder icon and adding the Jaguar wallpaper.

I've found a complete Jaguar clone, down to the last detail:

http://www.resexcellence.com/themes/04/01-06_jaguar.sit

It's designed for 10.3, but it works perfectly fine with 10.4. If you search the web, disabling spotlight and the dashboard is easy.

Here's a Jaguar login panel if anybody wants it:

http://www.resexcellence.com/loginpanel/05...JaguarLogin.sit

*** Note: only use the bundled images. Don't replace anything else or it'll mess up the login window.

And to get the snappiness of a Jaguar system:

Disable spotlight

Terminal:

sudo open -e /etc/hostconfig

Change it to SPOTLIGHT=-NO-

(To undo this, change it to "yes" obviously..)

To erase the current index (you can always reindex later)

mdutil -i off /
mdutil -E /

To enable indexing again...

mdutil -i on /

Disable Dashboard

defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES

killall dock

To re-enable..

defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO

Also if you want the jaguar wallpaper to show at login as default, simply go to "/System/Desktop Pictures" and rename the wallpaper of choice to "Aqua Blue.jpg"
