Hi,
please sorry for the question but I've burned the boot321 cdrom and I can boot the system with it but the bootloader won't refresh and display the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 DVD.

So I can't go on with the procedure.

Is there something wrong with my BIOS setup?

Without the arch command it defaults to 64bit mode once you've installed the Bootloader but on the Boot132
CD you should use it for 64bit. I'm going to double check this tonight as I may have got that wrong.

Would you mind telling me what guide you foolowed to get this set up you have to work?

Hi,
I've solved the booting problem but now after the DVD swap and the verbose loading of all the extensions I'm getting a persistent reboot just before the start of the graphics Leopard installer (so the language selection menu doesn't show up).

I'm using a BFG Nvidia 8800GTX graphics card and I've tried many booting options......do you have any idea regarding this problem?

Sorry to ask a noob question but when you say
16: Now switch back to your USB stick and copy the Extra folder from the  .ZIP to the root of your Snow Leopard HDD. (this is the first Folder  that includes all other Folders).

Do you mean copy the extra which i have system, library, application and etc folders?
Thanks for all the help, I have been able to install it but I always have to boot with the CD in otherwise it just hangs on the Apple logo screen.

Specs below:
P6X58D-E
i7 950
OCZ 6GB
Sapphire 4890 (working)
Seagate 500GB
LG DVD-R/RW SATA

I followed the guide and I still have two issues that I can not resolve:

1) I do not have network drivers installed.  The Nics are not working, and I can't get on the net.

2) I have tried and tried and tried the boot0: error fix several times.  I took the hd out and put it on another mac, i booted from the install DVD, I even tried it from with in the OS.  I tried it with sudo, and with out sudo, but I still always get a boot0: error and can not boot without the iboott cd.  I installed multibeast 2.5.1 as easybeast.

I installed the OSX without a hitch, and I am in the OS just fine.

Asus P6X58D / OSX 10.6.5 (followed the guide) / 6GB ram / 2tbHD Seagate

What is going on?

Fantastic guide!

But, I got problems during my installation of retail 10.6.3. Could you help me?

I got two disks, Disk1 is for Win7, Disk2 is trended to for Mac. After failed burning the 10.6.3.DMG to DVD9, I chose to Hard Disk Installation method.

1. initialized Disk2, used MBR partition table, then make two partritions (40G for each, here use P1 & P2 to identify them, P1 is for Mac, P2 is for Install DVD.

2. use DDMac.exe to write 10.6.3 to partrition P2. Then use MacDrive to modify OSinstall / OSinstall.mpkg (for the purpose to install Mac over MBR).

3. use UltraISO to burn P6X58D Premium Mars132 v2.iso to USB stick.

4. reboot and use USB stick to enter Boot132 menu. choose partition P2 (which is displayed as Mac OS X Install DVD in the menu) and use -x -v cpus=1 busratio=20 arch=i386 to start installation.

5. after a reboot, I got Mac running. insert USB stick with the Extra folder & BootLoader folder (you provided in the post), then run the BootLoader Installer and just click through to the end (use the default install location).

6. copy the Extra folder to the root of SL HDD (partrition P1).

7. copy and paster "kext utility" and "kext helper B7" to desktop, double click 'Kext Utility' on the desktop, enter my password and let it run. After this step, Mac system should can boot withou the Boot132 CD (USB stick in my case). But this came to be a nightmare for me. USB stick is the only way I can boot Mac. What happened? Can some software fix this issue?

My PC configuration:

P6X58D Premium, w/ bios 1201

i7 920 @ 2.66GHz

ASUS EAH 4870 DK

Hi,
I've had the same problem in burning the 10.6.3 DVD, so I've cloned the .dmg to a 8GB USB memory drive and I've installed the OS from it.

The boot123 cdrom have worked flawless.
The burned DVD is giving me some persistent reading errors.

Obviously the installation has been much more faster from the USB.

Thanks for your guide.
I was able to make it work on my ASUS P6X58D-E (no flags), and I updated to 10.6.5.
My only problem has been the Audio. I was able to make it work using this Kext:

But only works with the back outputs, the Front does not work
What can I do?

Thanks Temis, but if I try your Kext, I do not even get the audio device to be recognized, so I had to go back to the Kext from kexts.com. I might be doing something wrong with your files, can you briefly explain what steps I should follow?

Just to clarify, I do NOT mean Front audio in a Multi-speaker configuration, but AAFP (Front Panel Audio Connector) which does not work...

First of all, I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to getting OS X Snow Leopard working on our hardware. I'm literally one step away from having my perfect "Hack Pro" .

My (relevant) hardware:

Asus P6X58D-E
Powercolor HD 5850 PCS+
Intel Core i7 920 D0 @ stock
Corsair 6GB RAM 1600 Mhz 9-9-9-24


The only problem is that I haven't been able to get sleep working. I've only tried it on 10.6.5, but to no avail. I used the DSDT.aml file in P6X58D_Premium_Files.zip, which I thought would be compatible with the P6X58D-E. Perhaps I was wrong. I hope my graphics card isn't an issue; as far as I'm aware, the drivers are made by Apple for the Mac Pro, so there's minimal hacking involved.

Can someone who has successfully got sleep working please help me (maybe by sending me their DSDT.aml file that works on the P6X58D-E? Thanks in advance!

P.S. I thought I'd add that when I try to put the computer in sleep, and fans stop followed by the hard drives, but the power LED remains on. It stays like this. I've tried hibernating too and it does the same thing. Could it be that some of my BIOS settings are wrong?

Edit: I successfully got sleep working by using SleepEnabler.kext. At first this didn't work and I simply got a kernel panic (although it worked fine in the 32-bit kernel). I got rid of this problem by removing NullCPUPowerManagement.kext. Now it works 100%. Is there any advantage to keeping NullCPUPowerManagement.kext?

Edit 2: I just found that removing NullCPUPowerManagement completely cripples my overclock.

Does anyone have a DSDT.aml for the P6X58D-E working 100%? Preferably I'd like to get sound and sleep working without kexts.

I got this working by rolling back AppleHDA.kext to 10.6.3. You can do this in Multibeast. You also need HDAEnabler.kext and LegacyHDA.kext in /Extra/Extensions. Make sure you rebuild your cache by using Kext Utility after you have done so. Hope this helps!

Just wanted to say that I've finally gotten my setup to work...

ASUS P6X58D - Bios 1201
i7 950 - stock
6GB Kingston DD3
Intel X25 SSD 80 Gigs
XFX ATI 5700

I've got 10.6.5 installed with all the updates and everything is working as far as I can tell.  Don't know what my next steps should be if any, about benchmark and all those things...

This has been a combination of lots of reading, trial and error.  I finally used iBoot - MultiBeast ATI Experimental and then added all the files from KUP re-installing the MultiBeast with Kup's DDST...  Ouch!  But - it is working...

If anyone needs my help, more than welcome to share some more - and if anyone can share what should be my next steps to maximize this - then please do so!
