Monkey D. Luffy
This looks like good news for Core i5 / i7 and HD 4670 owners since Apple added these hardware in their new iMac. Hoping for OSX86 support anytime soon.
MacModifier
Yea I was thinking the same thing today when I went to the Apple site to check out all the new products being introduced.

Swhay
I wonder if it's 10.6.2 that will provide support for i5/i7?
Treky
Cool, I was a bit sad meanwhile, that my new Lynnfield I7 is unsupported but now, it seems, he is not with the next update.
crosquillas
Yea I was also stoked when I saw the Lynnefield's in the new iMacs. Unfortunately only the Core Duos are currently shipping, the Lynnefield iMacs won't ship until November so probably no support till 10.6.
radekge
I tried the beta 10.6.2 kernel with core i5. No support yet and the i5/i7 iMacs will probably be released in the second half of november... so who knows, maybe 10.6.3? Or they'll still add it to 10.6.2. Or they gonna come with a custom kernel and 10.6.3 will appear later with official support... well, we won't know until the release of 10.6.2/november :-)

Now, the question is whether the cores are close enough so that kexts intended for a mobile card works on a desktop unit twice its size. What's the status of the 4850; are desktop 4850 using the iMac unit's kexts or are they using those from the Mac Pro's 4870?
