  1. 10.6.3 Released !

on core i5 (gigabyte ga-p55-ud3 board) after update usb mouse and keyboard don't work. USB ports do work, the disk shows up on desktop when I plug a pendrive... just the keyboard and mouse...
  2. 10.6.2 + ga-p55-ud3 + core i5

I'm using nVidia GeForce GTX275, with chameleon GraphicsEnabler=y
  3. 10.6.2 + ga-p55-ud3 + core i5

Hmm, can you give me some link with information what EXACTLY is this RTC issue? How can I check if I have it? Actually I mostly use win7 nowadays, I have snow leo on spare disk for testing, I don't use it so much so I might not have noticed this issue even if I have it... -- ok, I think I've found the info... and I probably have it :/ looking now for source code of i5boot, I want to know what modifications are needed...
  4. 10.6.2 + ga-p55-ud3 + core i5

goldenaustin: This board has 2 sata controllers. One is the P55 and the second is Gigabyte-branded, jMicron I think. Where did you plug your hard drive? It should be one of the P55 sockets, the blue ones near the bottom of the board. tonymacx86: RTC issue? you mean CMOS reset after every reboot and bios settings going back to default? You have to patch RTC in your dsdt. It's very easy to do.
  5. 10.6.2 + ga-p55-ud3 + core i5

tonymacx86: that's a screenshot of your machine or have you got access to a real quadcore iMac? ez.online: You can use my BootCD: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1926399/MBCD.ISO Boot from it, insert the 10.6 retail DVD, press F5, enter boot arguments: -v busratio=20 cpus=1 and boot the retail DVD. Install. After the installation boot again from the BootCD, this time start your newly installed system (the same boot arguments). Make /Extra/Extensions folder and copy fakesmc.kext there ( netkas.org ). You have to use RealtekR1000.kext for LAN to work (I found it on kexts.com). If you have the latest bios version (F4) you can use my dsdt: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1926399/dsdt.aml otherwise the 10.6.2 kernel will KP with HPET error. Install Chameleon/PCEFI. Update to 10.6.2 (via software update or combo update, both work). That's it, it should work. Remember that in bios you need to have the sata controller set to "AHCI", not raid.
  6. Hello, just wanted to share my thoughts. I got vanilla 10.6.2 running on my core i5 and gigabyte ga-p55-ud3 boards. It's fully stable. However, the cpu in "about this mac" is still shown as unknown, as are the P55 based sata and usb controllers. Strange, I thought, the new iMac has EXACTLY the same components, it has to, P55 is for now the only chipset working with core i5. The mystery was solved when I saw first quadcore iMac benchmarks. Mac OS X 10.6.2 (Build 10C2234), not build 10C540 as we all have. So, they have a custom build. We'll probably have to wait until 10.6.3 for full i5/P55 support. Real iMac benchmarked with Geekbench scores over 6000. The same my i5 on Windows 7, however on 10.6.2 it scores only 4900. Waiting for the release of 10.6.3....
  7. 10.6.2 Released!

Yes, core i5 + P55 work with vanilla 10.6.2 kernel. However, in "about this mac" the cpu is "unknown" as is the ahci controller. We have to wait for real i5 iMacs to appear to see how it's done there. But it works.
  8. I tried the beta 10.6.2 kernel with core i5. No support yet and the i5/i7 iMacs will probably be released in the second half of november... so who knows, maybe 10.6.3? Or they'll still add it to 10.6.2. Or they gonna come with a custom kernel and 10.6.3 will appear later with official support... well, we won't know until the release of 10.6.2/november :-)
  9. you'll have to make a bootcd with for example this kernel: http://prasys.co.cc/2009/10/sse2-kernel-fo...opard-intelamd/ and it should work... However, I would wait now for 10.6.2 which is going to be released probably next week. There's a chance that it will natively support P55 and i5 if the rumors of new iMacs getting a clarksfield processor are true. Clarksfield and i5 Lynnfield are basically the same (even the same cpuid), one is just made for mobile (lower clocks etc), the other for desktop.
  10. Snow Leopard works for me on GA-P55-UD3 and Core i5. Had to use modbin's patched kernel (or patch it myself... checks for cpuid need to be removed). Unfortunately it works only with cpus=1 even though I patched my dsdt.
  11. I've had the same issue. Are you using chameleon rc3? if yes - boot in 32 bit or use pc efi 10.3
  12. so you have injectors AND dsdt patch? Use only dsdt patch. Here's mine: Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized) { Store (Package (0x16) { "@0,compatible", Buffer (0x0B) { "NVDA,NVMac" }, "@0,device_type", Buffer (0x08) { "display" }, "@0,name", Buffer (0x0F) { "NVDA,Display-A" }, "@1,compatible", Buffer (0x0B) { "NVDA,NVMac" }, "@1,device_type", Buffer (0x08) { "display" }, "@1,name", Buffer (0x0F) { "NVDA,Display-B" }, "NVCAP", Buffer (0x18) { /* 0000 */ 0x04, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x0D, 0x00, /* 0008 */ 0x02, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x07, /* 0010 */ 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 }, "VRAM,totalsize", Buffer (0x04) { 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x40 }, "device_type", Buffer (0x0D) { "NVDA,GeForce" }, "model", Buffer (0x17) { "nVidia GeForce 9650 GT" }, "rom-revision", Buffer (0x25) { "nVidia GeForce 9650 GT OpenGL Engine" } }, Local0) DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0)) Return (Local0) } Full support with vga-out (didn't test hdmi).
  13. Working fine for me, 9650m gt 1gb on an asus x71vn laptop.
  14. Laptop + monitor

Hello, I have a laptop which at home I connect to an external 24" monitor using d-sub and external usb keyboard. Everything works great, however, OS X says that I have 2 displays connected even when I close my laptop and it's display turns off. Is there any way I can make OS X use ONLY my external monitor? I can use mirror mode but then my resolution is limited to my internal lcd resolution (1440x900 instead of 1920x1080 of my external monitor).
  15. 10.6.1 is out!

9.8mb? that's the smallest .1 update I have ever seen! so not much is changed...
