Antman Posted June 4, 2006 Author Share Posted June 4, 2006 thank you but the problem is the size of the file as well.. It needs to be 904KB 921,722 bytes.. the one edited is 1.2MB 1,228,856bytes. It has to be Identical to the original. I tried photoshop but I am no expert I could not get the size right.. Also in the zip I created I have an already resized and swirly removed bmp but the size is still a little off.. it is sooo close but not good enough.. If you're trying to set this as a boot logo for bios, I think bios boot logos only work in 640x480... seems strange that you need a super specific image size... Antman Posted June 4, 2006 Author Share Posted June 4, 2006 I am putting this as my boot image. it is 640x480 but if the size is more than it changes the BIOs image and makes it unreadable thus damaging the file and the rom is useless.. to replace it the way I see it, it will have to be the same for it to work correctly.. I remeber bofors mentioning something about being able to implement all this on the software side with the EFI implementation they're working on. I think it would be much more worthwhile to get something working with that. But if you must, I know in some BIOS's, there's a way to turn off the splash screen completely, so it's simply black until control is handed over to the OS. Maybe you could do something like that? After I get the splash screen changed I am going to look into the chime but not sure if I can add that to my BIOs as my onboard is not compatible with OSX so I am using a CMI card.. non sequitur Posted June 4, 2006 Share Posted June 4, 2006 i have been trying to hack my cell phone to provide ev-do networking to my macbook pro, and i needed to replace one file with another that had 3 characters less. i also needed the same size in bytes. i successfully did it by hexediting the file... you may be able to do the same somehow... i dongt know if it is possible im just throwing an idea out there.
