Into web design and have a few spare minutes? We need a pimp theme for our wiki and we need your help!
A lot of the work has already been done - we've got a few premade themes that are most of the way there... we just need the skills of someone to finish it up.
Thanks for your help!

I could help out a little... I know my way around in photoshop. Don't have that much time, but, still, I could help out.

Here's what we're going for.
Skinning Mediawiki is fairly difficult, so thankfully some people who have done it in the past have made their themes available.
We'd like to base it off this one. Here's a screenshot:

And here's the source:
http://jasonpearce.c...ins-by-castley/
Another great looking wiki:
http://appeal.kde.org/wiki/Appeal
We'd be using the last two. Obviously ours will be much different but this gives us something to go on.
All told, I'd say it's 2-3 hours of work which can be spread over several weeks if necessary. It's probably 80% CSS work and 20% Graphic design. If you'd like to do just one or the other, let me know.

Hey Mash...
I'm not the most competent in CSS, but I'm sure I'll be able to pick it up fairly quickly. I've already got the source set up on a local wiki (with the exception of the side bar not showing up right on Editing pages), and pretty much identical to what you have in your screenshot. Of course, I'm sure we'll be wanting to integrate the new skin with the wiki, so I'd need to know what exactly we're looking for/going with.
Cheers,
~Bond

I just looked at the source of the enhanced 1.5 skin, jezus, they have 7 css files for different browsers. Basically that means ya hafta test every change in all the different browsers, instead of going bughunting later on.
Thank god for pre-existing skins yea, skinning this from the ground up with all the browser compatability would be a bitch to do.
I have some experience with css, since I made a few websites with the css/div thing. No expert though (I don't dream in css

Yeah, I noticed that Kiphaas. Seems like there'll be a bit of work to do, since I'm getting totally different results with IE and Firefox.

In a moderately related note, IPB is releasing an integration module which allows IPB to manage users and change settings for MediaWiki. Not sure how it's going to be able to convert from a pre-existing database (perhaps we'll just have to drop all users and start over with the forum users, not too much of a problem). However, I should add it seems to also support IPB skinning.

So essentially, we can use that module to extend our new IPB skin to the wiki? Linkski? That would sure save alot of headaches, but It almost seems too good to be true.
