Everything works fine under 10.5.6 except that it doesn't shutdown (I get black screen but the power is still on) and it takes a long time to restart. Sleep works, though. I've installed openhaltrestart 1.03 but it still doesn't shutdown. Any thoughts? SS
kamidake50
Do you have issues with booting being slow too? Or just shutdown? Also what do you do if you go from a terminal as root, # shutdown now ?
slimandslam
Do you have issues with booting being slow too? Or just shutdown? Also what do you do if you go from a terminal as root, # shutdown now ? It boots very fast. Haven't tried shutting down from the terminal window, but I can see that the CPU halts (via -v flag) during shutdown. My posting has a copy of the startup text attached: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...amp;pid=1111057 J
kamidake50
OK.. So I am trying to figure out what the issue is... When you shutdown, CPU halts, disks unmount etc? But it just stays on and is not sending the request to power off? (and you have to do it manually)

But it just stays on and is not sending the request to power off? (and you have to do it manually) Yes. The scrolling text shows that the CPU halts and then the screen goes black but the fans are still on (the machine is still on). I have to hit the power switch. I just tried it from a terminal window -- same thing. :-( J
kamidake50
OK so you have a power management issue... No issues with sleep just shutdown. Stupid question but have you tried different power profiles in the BIOS?

MacUser2525
Retail 10.5.6. Uptime 7 months. Impossible 10.5.6 was released in December 2008 your running something other than that for you to have seven months uptime. My longest was forty some days if I remember correctly between one of the point updates last summer, I routinely go weeks at a time unless I add new hardware to the machine. Uptime is over-rated though you really want to be getting the security updates included in the new revisions of the OS your running regardless of what it is. JackieO
December of 2007 I upgraded my P4 380 Workstation to Leopard from Tiger(10.4 - Maxxus/Tubgirl) which before had been up at least a year from what I can remember. I purchased my new hackintosh June of 2008 which is a Dell 530 Inspiron Core 2 Quad and recovered my Leopard build onto the newer hard drive with TimeMachine. It's still going without a rebuild, only updates, which I'm on 10.5.5(Kalyway with Vanilla kernel v9EFI Cam bootloader) about to update to 10.5.6. Thanks to Kalyway, Netkas and iPC (great tools) and all their wonderful work, not to mention all of you and a heck of alot of time searching Google for various kext and kernels, etc. To say the least, I think I know more about kext, mkext, bootloaders, mac drivers, etc. than I thought I would ever need to know or want to know, but it's been well worth the ride. Cheers... I think I hold the record so far. 6-2008 to 3-2009
