Just installed MacDrive 7 in Windows 7 (7048) x64, its working great.

Trick is to install 7.0.10 (modified to install on x64), register, uninstall, install 7.2.5+ and it will keep registered. ;)

I can confirm Chrysaor's install on Win 7 7048. However I just installed 7.2.5 as I instructed originally, and updated to 7.2.6, works a treat.

Since installing Macdrive on my MBP running Win 7 x64, I have been trying to get this installed natively on my Imac running Win 7 x32. To date I still haven't found a work around. The Paragon method seems to be the only way to get this working on x32. I can only assume that Win 7 x32 has a different file structure to Vista, as I am lead to believe that Win 7 was always intended to be x64 only.

I am still trying to get this working on x32 on my Imac, and will post anything I can, but in the meantime the paragon route is the best option to get it working.

I tried the paragon solution on win7 x32, but paragon show my disk as one GPT partition (even windows show me the right partition map).

Does anyone has an idea ?

I had the same problem with Paragon Partition Manager, it would not display my partitions. I tried Hard Disk Manager Pro and that program displayed all of my partitions correctly but I could not assign a drive letter to any of the partitions. When I right click my mac partition, I don't get that option and the option to Assign a drive letter is grayed out in the dropdown menu (can't select). Am I doing something wrong? I tried running the program as "administrator" but that didn't help.

running 32bit of windows7

Edit:

Ok, I was able to assign drive letters using ext2Fsd volume manager

http://ext2fsd.sourceforge.net/projects/projects.htm

and now it works! sweet!

I had problems with 7.2.6, it gives "file system driver did not start" error, while 7.2.5 works fine.

Updated to 7057 and method still works in 7057 x64.

it should have a windows 7 version. seriously if that guide is that simple why cant the company make a quick fix to the installer. lol I use mac drive on Vista, its nice. I probabley won't use windows 7 unless I can find a cracked version that passes validation on updates. Other than that I am completely happy with my hackintosh. i use windows for web design and photoshop thats it

7.2.6 still not working in win 7 7068 x64, but 7.2.5 working. What about you 32bit guys? I haven't installed 7057 or 7068 on my imac yet in 32bit, and was wondering if anyone has got this working (natively).

I read through the website of Ext2IFS and it mentioned about a command line access. So i created a batch file and stuck in it my startup folder. Now I don't have to assign a letter at every start upsmile.gif. Here are the steps:

1) Assign a Drive Letter using EXT2IFS

2) Run cmd.exe and type "mountvol X:\ /L" (without the quotation marks; and replace X: with the current letter the drive is assigned to)

3) Now mountvol will report the persistent volume name (example):

\\?\Volume{241c8cc6-c4e4-11db-8168-c5932447ec37}

4) Copy that

5) Open Notepad

6) Type: "mountvol X:\ \\?\Volume{241c8cc6-c4e4-11db-8168-c5932447ec37}" (again without the quotation marks; replace X: with whatever letter you want to assign it too; replace the last part with what you got from cmd)

7) Save it as a .bat file (you can name it whatever as long as it ends with .bat)

8) stick it in your startup folder

Thats what I did ..

NOw You Can all run macdrive on windows 7 32-bit

What up everyone? I had a little trouble activating my version of MacDrive 7.2.5.54, so I figured I'd share how I did it in case anyone is having problems. I couldn't use the upgrade activation method because my system would crash whenever trying to run an upgraded version of the program. In my case, only by using a clean install of v7.2.5.54 could my drives be displayed and accessed. I'm using an 8-core Mac Pro with Windows 7 b7068 64bit (Boot Camp).

-First off, you'll need to find a keygen somewhere (hint: Paradox)

-Open the "Activate MacDrive 7" window and the KG

-Copy and paste the serial from the KG into the activation window

-Select "Show other activation options" and click next

-Select "I don't have any internet access" and click next

-Next, you'll see your serial followed by a Computer ID

-Copy everything AFTER the "C3-" and paste that into the KG

-Copy and paste the newly displayed activation code

Sorry for the longwinded post. I just want to make sure that anyone having trouble gets a detailed explanation of what to do since I don't really have any intention of posting again. Thanks again for the help and I wish all of you luck in any future endeavors. May Afromania be with you all.

MacDrive 7.2.5 Works perfect on Windows 7 Build 7077 x64 though

I finally found a failsafe method that works for me (Boot Camp on both x86 and x64) using macdrive 7.2.5:

The following works for me on 3 macs -- x86 and x64, using macdrive 7.2.5:

1. Modify 7.2.5 .msi as many have already explained.

2. Install MacDrive, reboot.

3. HERE IS THE KEY: Install Ext2Fsd 0.46 (which should include Ext2Mgr 2.26). Google, easy to find.

4. Run Ext2 Volume Manager, assign a drive letter to the OSX HFS partition, and check the box to make it permanent.

5. Reboot

6. The end.

7. My MacOSX partition lives as D: and stays as such, and all HFS drives mount for reading and writing without any problem. This has worked flawlessly for me!!

I really hopes this helps you guys.

You're absolutely right. But had I read all the way back to the middle of March (!!), I wouldn't have felt like Einstein for 15 minutes. Not sure why there's still been a problem for peeps using 7.2.5 and Ext2fsd. Your post should have ended things, no?

Cheers.

I get the feeling that the drivers in 7.2.6 have not been properly signed for Windows 7 x64 however, even after modding a couple of them to work as unsigned 'test' drivers I can't seem to get macdrive working.

Update: same issues with 7.2.6 with win 7 RC (7100). I don't think this will be resolved until new programs are released by Macdrive.

Update: Further to my original post about editing the msi files, instead of messing about with the win version number when editing, just right click on "LaunchCondition" and delete the whole table. this removes all restrictions on what versions the file can be loaded on.

Thanks Holyfield. I've managed to get this Bootcamp working on my MBP on Win7 x64. It takes some messing around though. As with other installers, if you try to install with the setup.exe file you will get the response that the program is not compatible. Here's my instruction to get this working on x64 Win 7:

1. As with Macdrive, I had to navigate to the x64 msi file and edit using Easy MSI editor. As before delete the launch condition. Save the MSI file and install.

2. During the install Windows will inform you that certain drivers cannot be installed due to "unassigned digital signiatures". OK these messages and install.

3. Following install and reboot, not all components will work, specifically the ability to use the HFS feature. This is due to the errors noted above. To overcome this you need to run the system in testmode, which will ignore the digital signatures. The following is instruction to run in testmode (if you don't already know)

Run Win 7 in Testmode (or XP, Vista blah blah)

i) Open elevated command prompt - Click start, type CMD in search, right click on CMD and "run as administrator"

ii) In the command prompt window which appears type: bcdedit.exe /set TESTSIGNING ON and return.

iii) Reboot the pc.

Now all features will run. Normally using this on other versions has put the words "testmode" in each corner of your desktop. But this hasn't happen on this version (maybe because it is a test version os), its just put testmode above windows 7 in BRH corner.

Attached is a screenshot of this working on my MBP. Great I can finally dump Macdrive. Can't wait for OS x 10.6.

(ps thanks for the spell check holyfield)

Thax man, excellent guide!

Just small note, its bcdedit.exe /set TESTSIGNING ON

Just for case if someone copies it directly.

Thanks for the spell check. Just stuck on one thing now. No write privileges from windows to hfs? Have I missed something or is bootcamp only able to read mac volumes?

UPDATE

I don't know if write permissions will be available on the official bootcamp release with snow leopard, but you can't write to HFS with this version. If like me you need write permissions from windows on your OS x drive (for me it's using Postbox with emails stored on my OS x partition), you will need to keep or re-install macdrive.
