How about making a proper tutorial instead of this?

Quite apart from allowing more effective develpment & giving people a "leg up" towards making further discoveries, this avoids clogging the forum with endless "me too" requests for help.

Is there any Screen grabing tools for Mac and also what the best way to make a Howto? I.e PDF or something Else!

Cmd + Shift/or its Alt? + 3 for selection grabbing

Cmd + Shift/or its Alt? + 4 for full screen grabbing

You can just put it here as a post :D

Hi right cu3edweb i need you to send me a complete IOREG dump this should then included your EDID and strings i need. This should help out with your problems!

zAo the X4500 is not supported by apple but if you do the same i'll see if i can trick it to think its a X3100. I can't promise you anything!

On following your instructions:

"Run IORegisteryExplorer once this is open go to the search bar and type

EDID this will show you your EDID like in Figure 1, To make it easy for

you I have highlighted the EDID section for you. "

I get nothing......

SticMAN

This is Weird. Have you Access to Windows on this laptop if so get the EDID and i'll correct the tutorial.

how can i solve my problem ?

i got blue screen

this is my post http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry863672

this is the dump

bash-3.2# ioreg -l -w0 -p IODeviceTree > dump.txt

http://piju.fakap.net/upload/files/dump.txt

Please can you use IOREGISTRYEXPLORER! from my download link. it doesn't copy it all via bash command! Sorry

See your IOreg dump has this where the info i need is placed "IOACPIPlatformDevice is not serializable"

sounds good mr. hacktrix!

i guess i have the same x3100 (also 0x2a02, 0x0003) like you.. does this mean i can use your EFI-string or do i need to make my own ioreg-dump and post it here?

however i would enjoy doing this dump, but your download link doesn't load...!? or where else can i get ioregistryexplorer?

btw:

my x3100 currently works using paulicat's natit.kext at 1680x1024 instead of my display's native resolution of ..x1050

do you think a EFI-string will improve this?

thank you, greetings

Do you remove all kext related to x3100 and the natit?

I found it I only remove the natit.kext

That efi string did not work. I had the same problem that most dell people with x3100 report. The screen just goes black. With the sleep trick the screen goes to sleep and wakes up but it is still black.

Are you sure you have a GMA950 as your dump has a lot on GM965 which is the X3100.

Try deleting the X3100 kexts and install this kext then redo the dump.

make sure you delete the EFI string before rebooting!

hello,

first of all, thanks alot for this great effort. unfortunately my search for EDID in the IORegistry explorer turns up nothing? even a search for vga shows nothing. I am on a dell inspiron 1520 with iatkos v4 10.5.4. I have the display fully working with the a sleep/wake trick, dont know if that makes any difference as to why its not showing up. I would love to give you the string otherwise...

thanks for any help
