As we had all predicted, Apple has just released the Mac OS X 10.4.8 update which is available through Software Update. Apple's info:

The 10.4.8 Update is recommended for all users and includes general operating system fixes, as well as specific fixes for the following applications and technologies:

 

- connecting to wireless networks using the EAP-FAST protocol

- Apple USB modem reliability

- using OpenType fonts in Microsoft Word

- compatibility with 3rd party USB hubs

- scanner performance

- RAW camera support

- printing documents with Asian language names

- performance of the Translation widget

- broadband network performance

- security updates

Speaking of updates, has anyone else noticed their bountiful number this past week?

Didn't notice any color change on my G5 2.0Ghz dual.....

The zoom thingy is kinda cool, not sure how much I'll use it.

I noticed that when i press the mute button on my MBP the volume pleasantly fades in and out, no more harsh instant off/on, was this a 10.4.8 feature that went under the radar?

I believe so. I know it didn't fade before.
